Favorite thing I've watched so far is Del Potro-Nadal. Two non-Americans. Battle for who gets to play in the gold medal match and it was of the highest quality in a great environment with fans of both players going at it throughout. First of all the zoning flat out sucks! You've got industrial right next to retail shopping, right next to a prison, then housing, then favelas all within close proximity. For example, you have to drive through one to get to the Corcovado. The favelas are loaded with gangs, young and old. They generally stay inside their boundaries but occasionally venture out to rob....even sometimes by rolling burning tires across the freeways to stop the cars first. When they do come out the crimes most often involve taking someone to an ATM for their daily cash limit. Once, they called my sister in law claiming to have kidnapped her father demanding ransom. He just wasn't home and had forgotten his phone so that was intense. When we're down there starting next week we will be visiting a family friend who owns a large security company so we will have armed escorts everywhere we go, which is comforting. Watch "City of God" sometime and you'll see a very realistic Brazilian gangster movie.
