JimBowdenESPNxm JIM BOWDEN Dodgers and Capuano closing on 2-year 10m dollar deal that could signal the end to Kuroda's days in LAThis is Ned's worst deal of the offseason, no one in this world should ever defend him.
At this point you just have to sit back and wait Ned out. Sucks that we have to waste another year of Kershaw and Kemp's prime though.
Capuano 1 year 3 mil would have been fine, slot him at the #3 But you wonder why we can't fucking sign Kuroda Ned? Maybe it's cause you're such a motherfucking retard who has no place as a GM in any fucking sport in the universe and wastes too much money on stupid pieces of shit
Hard to say that this tops Jones and Schmidt... but its pretty bad... What I really dont get is why he spent 8M on Mark Ellis instead of letting Sellers or De Jesus play and saving that money for Kuroda. That, plus the overpay for Rivera. Its not about not having money, but about not knowing how to use the little that you have. We need to start weighting the importance that other guys (like Logan White, who many here adore) have on these signings. Signing a free agent and mapping you target players is not a one man job and the scouting department has a lot to say on it. I hope that with new management they CLEAN THE HOUSE.
Overpay for Rivera, yes, but M. Ellis deal for 2012 is only 2.5 million I get you could have said that along with others here and there but 2.5 million saved isn't gonna do much for Kuroda and the replacements in De Jesus and Sellers are far worse than Ellis
With that said, Kuroda could have easily been had but theres no point in trying to go back and look at all the countless ways we could have saved money with Uribe, deferrals, Guerrier, etc. to have gotten Kuroda and/or a big impact hitter.
Lets get back to the point: Capuano sucks for this money. He probably won't be horrendous, I say he gives us an ERA around 4, but he is not worth this stupidity of a deal at all I hate Ned more than Frank
Innings eater will be the 1st thing Ned will mention. I can't say this is the worst deal ever because he hasn't pitched for us yet but the amounts we are talking are definitely alarming for him. Remember too he pitched in Milwaukee which is a hitters paradise and that fact was brought up by the Braun haters. Make no mistake I'd rather have Kuroda!
Obviously in hindsight Jones was worse, but at the time of the Jones signing, there was a little justification for it. I know I was excited when it happened, and I bet you were. Same with Schmidt. This deal not for one second was even close to being fair value.
I think what he's saying is it's the worst in terms of value at the moment of signing. No one knows what Capuano will do but in terms of his value right now, he is not worth all this shit and you could argue we had no idea that Schmidt would be that shitty so it wasn't THAT bad at the moment of signing
Again, it's kinda tough to judge a contract based on results, because players can always just dive. Like Dunn, that wasn't a bad contract in my eyes, there was nothing that would make you believe he was gonna be this bad. Sometimes you have to blame the player. This deal, however, isn't even close to being fair, the second he signed it.
This makes our rotation and our bullpen worse. Eovaldi in the bullpen for one year would have been fantastic rather than having him struggle in the rotation then bounce up and down and now Ned is going to use the rest of his stupid money on some fuck up in the bullpen
