yeah but don't you think that absolute dedication to all things analytic had something to do w that too? as far as being to "get" todays players to do it i don't think that holds water because what's the difference if players refused to steal, take, adjust position etc? pretty if a manager calls for anything on the field its getting done of the player isn't going to be on the team long with this team i think every man on it is dedicated to doing whatever it takes
Well sure, if Roberts was asked why Dodgers don't bunt more, I don't think he'd say because the players don't want to. Just seems to me that both common sense and analytics would say that when one side of the infield is empty, you deliberately hit the ball there... and bunting has historically been the easiest way to hit a ball in a specific direction. So there's got to be another reason why they didn't (and still don't). Joc just attempted a bunt as I type this.
remember how Cody started his career and kept teams off balance w it and then suddenly nothing i mean, that was disappointing to have a runner at third and not plate him but i get it later in the game but especially in the early innings when you have guys at third you have to plate something at least that other reason is what i'm trying to figure out because it seems you'd want to score runs...weird
I really, really hope Vargas can figure it out this time and be a positive for the team. We need all the help we can get in the bottom portion of the lineup.
Stone pitched much better than his line indicated. Three weak ass contact hits and Smith failing to tag the runner at the plate. Then he has Walker struck out. Ump misses the call and Walker hits it out.
I'm not one to often complain about the officiating in sports, but does it seem the umps are getting worse at calling balls and strikes when they should be getting better? Or is it just that it's being discussed more? Even Neverett and Monday have been singling out missed calls more often, including the one that should've been strike three to Walker.
I don't care for bitching about officiating, either. I think it's the lament of losers. But that non-call last night was costly. Same pitch had been called a strike a number of times last night.

I think bitching about umpiring is the litany of the logical. Gotta be something odd going on if you can watch that repetitive incompetence night after night and not have it bother you as a baseball fan. Either take away the super imposed box and deal with whatever they call, or use the technology readily available and keep the most important part of the sport up to date with all the other technical innovations now part of the game.
offense is continually shitting the bed game after game after game and it's noticeable because of the pitching staff but now Glasnow has shit the bed in consecutive starts and the shitty offense is starting to be recognizable.
this bullpen guy for Arizona came into the game with a 7 ERA and all the Dodgers are doing is leaving runner after runner on base and not getting the job done. it's absolutely fucking pathetic
