When I was a kid I kept marbles and army men in those bags. I was probably 20 before I made the connection with CR.
That was my dads drink. I thought it was so fancy as a kid. How on earth could my father afford such expensive liquor that it comes in a velvety bag. With a name like crown royal it must be the most expensive drink in the world. Just look at the bottle! Innocence and Ignorance are the best things in the world. Beats the Indolence and Insolence that comes with knowing too much.
I havent had Crown Royal other than a sip or two i stole from my dads stash. For some reason I always shied away from that ostentatious bottle. Probably reason enough is that it was my dads drink. Probably why I never wanted to use Old Spice, Brut, or English Leather. Or wear corduroy pants. Or buy Fords. Or wear hats that arent caps, Or smoke. Or live in metropolitan areas. I am old and married now. I dont know how but my current deodorant is Old Spice. I know for sure I did not buy it, but the smell is pleasant enough and people demand I wear deodorant whenever i leave the mountain. I feel it is getting closer to the time that I will move out of the mountain (been almost 20 years). Looking at moving to the city into something smaller. I smoke (just not cigs). Last winter I got some corduroy pants that I did not automatically regift or throw in the 'clothes i will never wear' box. And I was in a car accident last week and now I need a car and some Ford keeps looking good to me. I shave my head now more often than not (like my dad) and sometimes my head gets cold. And wearing a baseball cap is not always appropriate. If i wear the only other kind of headgear I like (small close cropped knit beanies) I look like a muslim prisoner from OZ or they think im jewish and am wearing a big yamaka./kippah. So maybe I buy a hat. Fuck.
reason i never drank crown royal was i always saw guys showing it off like it was really special i used to see guys in CR w their bottle on the bar, in the purple bag half way, pointing it out like "look at me" kind of a neck drink isn't it?

I resemble that. I went to it last night because I had some on hand and the occasion called for a celebratory cocktail. I'm a beer and Jameson drinker for the most part or vodka/rocks. Come to think of it, I'll drink almost everything except lite beer and scotch.
depends on the situation if i'm playing poker i'll drink whatever is there but given a choice... yeah, jameson or tullamore and of course beer not a vodka drinker don't hate it, just not my fave
