Right, but he doesn't have to agree to a trade before it can be made.

Sure, and because of those threats it would be smart of the Marlins to ask for compensation in the event that Haren retires - and it would be smart of the Dodgers to offer that. Either way the Dodgers get out of the contract, or portion there of.

Like I said before, if push comes to shove I think Haren plays. One more summer of work for $10 million? Maybe the location isn't ideal but it's still $10 million for a game he likes to play.

Great deal. Heaney provides a top arm to possibly give for Hamels in lieu of Urias.

Do cities in CA have income tax as well? It ranges anywhere from 3-4% here in NYC.

Yeah. We get slapped with both NYS and NYC income tax here.

i like Dee and believe in him, but the Dodgers dealt from a position of power ( because of Guerrero and Turner) and a lot of good came from this for us.

they played on the Marlins' heart..a young all-star caliber guy under team control and the Marlins are tryin to satisfy Stanton..Nerds Win - flawless victory.

Dodgers, Marlins Agree To Six-Player Trade Involving Gordon, Haren For Heaney
By Mark Polishuk [December 10, 2014 at 6:18pm CST]

The Dodgers and Marlins have agreed to a blockbuster deal that will send middle infielder Dee Gordon and veteran right-hander Dan Haren to Miami in exchange for left-hander Andrew Heaney, second baseman Enrique Hernandez, righty Chris Hatcher and catcher Austin Barnes.

With the Dodgers reportedly open to dealing Gordon and the Marlins open to trading from their surplus of young arms, the two made sense as trade partners, especially with Miami rather thin at second base. Gordon is an upgrade over the Marlins’ current second base options (Donovan Solano and Derek Dietrich), though Gordon could also return to his original shortstop position and supplant Adeiny Hechavarria, who has been a negative fWAR player over the last two seasons.

Gordon broke out with an All-Star campaign in 2014, hitting .289/.326/.378 over 650 plate appearances while leading the league in both steals (64) and triples (12). He is controlled through the 2018 season, though he’ll start getting expensive this winter as he is arbitration-eligible for the first of four times (as a Super Two player). MLBTR’s Matt Swartz projects Gordon to earn $2.5MM in 2015.

Haren said last month that he could retire if he was pitching anywhere other than with the Dodgers or Angels. The righty exercised his $10MM player option for the 2015 season, so now the question seems to be if Haren has had a change of heart about playing outside of southern California, or if he’ll indeed walk away from that $10MM and hang up his glove. Buster Olney did hear that a third team could be involved in the trade talks, which could be a precursor to another Marlins trade that could send Haren to a more preferred destination.

The FGFYC: The Fish Go Fuck Yourself Club. Founded in 2007 when the Marlins wanted Keshaw + Kemp + more for Miguel Cabrera.
