I've never ditched a game in the first inning in all my years as a Dodger fan, but Longoria's bomb finished yesterday's game for me. It's not just the losses, it's losing to the fucking Giants without Panik and Williamson, who had been their hottest hitter the last week. I get the feeling they already had reservations for the 2018 Series. Somehow it was a right of passage after last year. Apparently the rest of league didn't get the memo.
Rotation has actually been decent and offense is performing pretty solidly. The bullpen has been the biggest issue and that is going to need to be addressed somehow and soon. The pieces are there to keep the offense rolling forward, but someone like Cingrani or Alexander or FUCKING BOTH need to figure their shit out and Baez needs to be shot out of a cannon into the fucking sun. Moving Wood to the pen should be considered when Hill finally returns if Buehler continues to look good. Sounds like Taylor is going to be full time SS the rest of the season which is fine as long as one of the many reserve bats in the OF can step up. The idea of Hernandez moving to the OF right now is somewhat stupid to me. See what we have in Verdugo and Pederson out there while Puig is down with Hernandez at 2B and 3B while Turner is out. If the bat we have seen thus far is real, we may have our MIF for the rest of the season. Now is also the time to start pushing harder on a Kemp trade. Any bit of that salary the club can get out of is needed to likely salvage this season at the deadline. He is off to a great start, but there has to be some worry of regression and he has had some solid luck thus far. I wonder if a team like Seattle could be someone to target to maybe take advantage of. This fucking blows, but the offense is not the problem even with all these injuries, the bullpen needs to get its shit together.
The offense is not a problem at all? Guess I better get to the optometrist quick, because that ain't what I'm looking at every night. No sir.
Blow up-eration. They're going to sell at the deadline, flip Kershaw, Kenley and Kemp and clean house of McCourt's children Start new next season It's a wrap on this season unless they pull the trigger on Manny ASAP, which they won't because they'd be over a barrel now in those trade discussions and it's hard enough as it is to strike a worthwhile deal with the O's meddling owner hovering So that's out I mean, they've been waiting on the " proper value " in return for Puig for years now, they're not about to wave the white flag and take a L to Angelos
The offense is performing. Every team is going to have low scoring games on occasion, but the team has had losses where they've scored 7 and 6 twice, plus a 5 and 4 in there. Those in most cases are W's for this team of the last couple years and the 4 is a coin flip. So 33%(not including the 4 run) of their losses came in games that the offense gave the pitching staff enough support that they should have been able to pull off a win. That takes them from a bad record to one of the best teams in the league, so yes I am looking at the bullpen as the problem here, not the offense that is performing in the top 5 in the NL with players OPS's at Grandal .889 Kemp .886 Utley .862 Pederson .832 Bellinger .827 Hernandez .823 That is 6 guys with regular playing time in the early going with +800 OPS's while the team has missed one of it's best players.
O f course the BP sucks...I had concern about what would play out with that assembled patchwork pile of shit in January...and posted so more than once. But the offense, in spite of top five numbers, makes me ask: how about their upper echelon performances with RISP for instance?
What does that matter if they are still in the top 5 for runs? Someone else is going to have to get that for you cause I can't find it.
