even the miami crowd booing lustily tough decision man tough roberts did what was best for the team still hate it
Yeah I hate the decision but I'm also terrified every time Hill pitches that it's gonna be snatched away from us at any moments notice He's so fucking good and was fantastic today
His blister stuff and lengthy injury history probably made the decision damn easy. Tough to go and tell Hill, but easy call for the team's sake.
Hmmm. He robbed a guy of a once in a lifetime chance at sheer greatness on the basis of a hypothetically possible eventuality. That wasn't courageous. It's also a flamboyant managerial move. "That guy sure isn't afraid of making the tough decisions!". Meanwhile Hill is fucked over.
Not really. It's an easy move to defend: "It's my job to look at the big picture"; "gotta protect my guy". Pick your cliché. In an extraordinary situation, I put hypotheticals and "forward thinking" on hold.
we've seen a million pitchers go on the DL this year and finally have guys coming back. I would be cautious as FUCK with this guy as well, after the dude spent so much time away and had blisters pop up quite a bit. Again, I hate it happened but it makes sense. Roberts also gets 100% of the blame for something that wasn't 100% his decision and where no one can see the benefits. It's ballsy
This is gonna be talked about forever. On one hand, yeah, there's a big picture that Dave was thinking about. Dodgers need Hill for a shot at the title. On the other, it's a perfecto and there's no guarantee that we win it all, or that Hill's next start makes his blister pop up.
Didn't say that. It just is was it is. I made no comment on his motivation, I think that's a pointless discussion in almost every case. That's fair enough. I just would've 100% done the complete opposite thing, and I think with the unique significance of the situation, and the hypothetical/possible career implications of an injury should be in the hands of the man concerned.
