So, my nitpicking chore for the day was to send a message to the LA Times. The main Dodger page doesn't have the Dodgers box score on it. Not even the game articles have a box score anymore. And to find it is a 4 step move. WTF? So, I insisted on a link.
Interesting one liner in a dodgers.com article today (http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/n...0501&content_id=30148526&vkey=news_la&c_id=la): "Ethier, who thought he had an extension worked out a year ago only for it to fall through, will reserve judgment." Had no idea an extension was that close to happening
We'll get something done. Ethier wants to play for Magic... and he's proved to us that we need him in blue.
Olney On Dodgers, Hamels By Ben Nicholson-Smith [May 2 at 9:27am CST] The Dodgers should have the financial flexibility to pursue trades aggressively this summer, and there’s an expectation that the team’s payroll will rise next offseason, ESPN.com’s Buster Olney writes. The Dodgers’ new owners could pursue free agents such as Josh Hamilton, Miguel Montero and Mike Napoli next winter, assuming they’re willing to spend more than $90MM on payroll. Here’s more from Olney: The Dodgers’ front office will likely renew its interest in the market for Latin American players, Olney reports. The team was relatively inactive in Latin America under former owner Frank McCourt, but has a history of star-caliber Latin American players. The Phillies haven’t made recent progress with the representatives for Cole Hamels regarding a possible extension, Olney writes. The left-hander’s asking price won’t dip below five years and $112.5MM (Matt Cain’s contract) and seems to rise every day. Sources connected to the MLBPA believe Hamels will get six-year offers as a free agent.
I wonder if we see a rookie: http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgersnow/la-sp-dn-juan-uribe-could-land-on-disabled-list-20120502,0,7794895.story?track=rss
You have to consider who is on the 40 man roster in those decisions and of the 2 only Oeltjen in on there. If the Abreu rumor is true then he would take Kennedy's spot which means another corresponding move would have to be made. All of the infielders on the 40 man are on the active roster with the exception of the disabled De Jesus. Just food for thought, not many attractive choices unfortunately.
