I swear...one of my alltime hated Dodgers. I really should've used Andruw Jones(my alltime most hated Dodger) though. Drew was a good player at least and put up numbers for us...he just looked like he didn't give a fuck, just collecting his paychecks. Winning was the least of his concerns.
ooo baaaby. if Cano takes a reasonable 5yr deal i say bring him on. " he knows what's coming "...as in he knows the Yankees aren't gonna be a real contender for a while. Dodgers aren't above spending extra so long as they don't go past this 5-6yr window where they want to win as much as possible and Cano fits with this age group and is a fun guy. Mattingly pretty much raised him in the show as well. ooo boy. how does this lineup sound in 2014? Crawford LF Puig RF Cano 2B Ramirez SS Gonzalez 1B Kemp CF Uribe 3B ( yes, bring him back on a 2yr deal to bridge us to Seager in 2016) AJ Catcher 1 through 6 is just flippin dreamy. if we didn't have Uribe you couldn't get us out! hahahaha i know a good portion of fans are against signing Cano, but Cano is a hell of a player and would obviously make the team better. plus he's a reliable guy and usually healthy...we could use all-star caliber guys that are at least somewhat durable. with that kind of protection behind ( and in front) of Cano...sky's the limit
I would be against signing Cano if it were an 8-10 year $200-250M deal, but if it's limited to 5 maybe 6 years at $25-27M per, I can't complain.
agreed. 5 yrs should be the target, so he could expire with AGon, Kemp and the rest. the best part is by that time ( 2016), Seager will have come up and he'll be hittin 7th...maybe even 8th if all goes well lol
JIM BOWDEN @JimBowdenESPNxm1hNL MVP Race: 1. Clayton Kershaw 2. Andrew McCutchen 3. Yadier Molina 4. Freddie Freeman I can't believe i'm saying this, but I don't think I agree.
And I do agree with it actually. Usually I would give the hitter the upper hand, but I don't think any NL hitter deserves it more.
Verlander had run support. it's about keeping your team in winnable games. your hitters have to hit to get wins. that's not Kershaw's fault. Kershaw, if needed, can regularly go into the 8th inning and do so usually haven given up 2 runs. give him runs and a dominant Jansen and it's a win.
Our team needs to get younger. Cano wouldn't help that. The days of 30 somethings been the superstars are over, we need some fresh meat.
I don't think anyone blames Kershaw obviously...it isn't his fault he gets no run support. But how can anyone expect an MVP award with a record of 11-7(or 15-8 at the season's end, or something like that)? It's just kind of ridiculous. If we weren't Dodger fans we'd freak out! We aren't winning the games he starts and he's been pegged with at least 7 losses on his record. No way he should get MVP...I hope he does, but I just do not see that happening unless he somehow gets 18-20 wins minimum.
i'd like to see us get younger too...eventually. but veteran teams are usually the ones that wind up winning titles and i what that a little more than youth. Cano would help us win a title. Seager, Lee, and Reed will eventually join Puig, Kershaw, and Kenley...maybe Joc will take Crawford's place in a couple years. but the Yankees won 4 titles by putting veterans around Jeter, Pettitte, and Rivera...that's kind of what we have working right now with Puig, Kershaw, and Kenley. the Yanks let their farm go though and we don't wanna do that. won't do that. but 4 championships? sounds good to me.
i wouldn't expect it, i'm just saying he's deserving. all you can ask from your ace is to give you a consistent 30-something starts and 30 something legit chances to win. what's helping Kershaw get into the conversation is the fact that the NL MVP candidate pool is rather weak and when you look at that + personal performance + winning teams...Kershaw's right in front of everybody's face because he was already all-time dominant and now this is his best season to date
