So.. what do y'all think? Is anyone here interested in being part of a podcast? After 27 years, I'm done teaching. I'll be selling insurance or bourbon or going Magic Mike soon. My time will be more my own soon. Please weigh in. I'd like to hear your thoughts. There are minds here that the world needs to hear. Except Irish. He needs to stfu. See? I already have our first podcast theme ...
Ha, if only I had the time... A quick peak into my life, if you'll indulge me: Seven years ago we cashed in our Bay Area equity and moved to the foothills. Bought way too big of a house thinking that friends and family would constantly be visiting us. They don't. With the incredible acceleration in costs of home insurance, electricity, and propane - coupled with my wife losing her job - we can't afford to live here much longer. So two years ago we bought a smaller home down highway 49 a ways, with the plan that we'll downsize there as soon as we can. But it needed a lot of work, which I put into it weekly - deferred maintenance and upgrades. Both properties are on 5 acres, and both are always being overrun with weeds. I have 50 fruit trees on the first, 15-and-counting on the second, and a bunch of chickens that shit everywhere, so that requires maintenance time. And to help with the expenses, we've made the new property a vacation rental for the time being, until we're ready to move into it. Administering that takes a huge amount of time - time that I already didn't have. On top of all that, I have a full time private practice job, a kid in his mid-20's whom we're trying to get to fly the nest (the reason we haven't made the move yet), an aging Mom back in the Bay that relies on my help, and an aging mother-in-law that will need our help finding new housing after we move and she can no longer stay with us. I log in here every day just to clear my head and voice my frustration with Roberts and Co, but making a podcast? Yeah, I wish. Try me again in a couple years.
