He was loaded for bear on that conference call and he certainly made his point. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-simers-dodgers-20120515,0,6350060.column What a shame these guys opened up their gaping A-HOLES for fuckface! Selig can eat shit and die forever with Stern! I'm just sick.
really couldn't care less about the parking lots and frank he's getting something, whatever. like i've said before, i want to focus on building a WS team and replenishing the farm. hopefully get a new GM
every team, or most teams, have an outside party control the parking lots so frank is apart of this. so what he's not apart of the actual baseball team. that's what im more concerned with i understand why people are pissed, but im just not going to let parking lots control me
Let's just put this along in the lines of republicans vs democrats and religious people vs atheists. It's a war that will never be won, let's just enjoy some baseball.
I'm usually pro-TJ, but this one got out of line. The guys wanted to buy the team, so they did what was needed to be done. As Mark said, the lots WERE NOT ON SALE, so this is the less bad of the options. Did you wanted them buying the team and Frank having full control of the lots, and deciding what to build on them? He probably said "I'm keeping the lots and if you want the control I need to have the same revenue I would get owning them". They need to give this group a chance to prove themselves. Fans will not get back to the stadium running just because Frank's out, but not to give this new group a fair chance to prove themselves is simply unfair.
TJ's only asking what a lot of us want to know... why weren't they up front with us on the parking lot deal? At the press conference, Magic said McCourt would not get one penny from the parking lots -- he either lied or somehow (inexcusably) isn't in the loop. I'll grant you, TJ was out of line asking for an apology, but we certainly deserve an explanation. And the longer these guys refuse to address it, the worse it gets IMO.
ah i missed this thread. darth had left me a voicemail that i sort of heard at the airport but couldn't really understand all of it. thank god someone is going to keep this out there and not just let it be. you don't think it makes a difference? how about the first time douche sues the ownership? you don't think he's really going to just sit there and be good little douche do you?
Explanation about how they managed to get control of the parking? Havent you thout that MAYBE Frank has a clause saying that they cant share that info? I want an explanation if they fail to land David Wright when hes traded, or why Hamels signs with the Giants instaed of us... Thats baseball stuff... I cant care less about under which terms Frank ot out... The important thing is that hes gone...
no, explaining why they lied and sorry, there is no clause -- it's public record, as the LA Times found out (and thankfully shared with us)
Some docs are public, some are not. Please dont tell me that you expect to have all the details of a $2B transaction to be public. This group was not even the favorite to win if you remember, it was the other Conneticut guy. Maybe some of these agreements and future investments are what got them the team. Oh, and for the "Frank is going to sue you", I bet they took care of it and added a clause somewhere about how to handle a dispute and not go to court. They know the back of the story too.
But it was public record which, like I said, was how the LA Times discovered it Look, my only beef is with them knowingly concealing information at the press conference They knew it was going to come out, and yet they still chose to mislead us And now, when TJ asks them, they're choosing to play the "we're not going to talk about that" card Fuck that shit! I'll support the team always and always bleed Dodger Blue but I don't have to like a bunch of self-righteous, egomaniacal, holier-than-thou, sociopathic assclowns just because they happen to own my team
understood, but we as fans (and even more those of you that ACTUALLY live in LA) need to understand the ripple effect that keeping the "Franks is not 100% out" and "you mislead me" grudge has... low attendance = less team revenue = less money to spend = more Uribes and Harangs, and less Kemps and Kershaws... simple logic... Frank was a clown, but the wheels came off when all the divorce came out... before that, even as we knew he was horrible, the park was still full (see average attendance and ML rank) 2012 - 38,772 (6th) 2011 - 36,236 (11th) 2010 - 43,979 (3rd) 2009 - 46,440 (1st) 2008 - 46,056 (3rd) are you going to give these new guys the Frank treatment 2 weeks into their ownership without giving them time to prove themselves, when you kept supporting Frank for several year even knowing he was shrinking payroll, not improving the stadium and spending all the money on houses? it doesnt seems fair to me...
You can look at that in reverse too 4ever. More Uribes and Harangs will bring low attendance. Nobody wants to go see Rivera, Harang, Loney, Uribe, etc. If they get a big name fans will get invigorated and come back. The team is good, but to casual fans the team is boring. Need a Hamilton type. You need another superstar or people are not going to come back in groves.
the drama never ends at dodger stadium cmon guys, this is what you wanted... at least give what you wanted a little bit of a chance before you turn on it you guys were the happiest bunch in the world still a month ago magic is obviously just a corporate shill at this point they needed someone like magic to go over in LA other than magic what do you have? ownership from a huge investment banking firm the kind that most people acknowledge are responsible for the nations financial woes the dodgers were essentially bought by east coast bankers all things being neutral that would be as bad or worse than having a frank mccourt type in theory of course they brought in a guy with massive west coast business/entertainment/sports/media experience and contacts a great baseball guy who knows how to build organizations the right way through the farm and how/when to spend owners money on FA and the guy who runs the guggenheim family banking empire thats like the dodgers being owned by the rothschilds or the stuarts what im saying is the dodgers needed magic so most regular fans wouldnt even bother wondering about the rest of ownership or where all this money comes from everyone agrees they way overspent remember that most thought the idea of mccourt getting 1B was laughable and he got more than double that who are the only people in the world who have such little regard for the value of money or the integrity of the sport that they would destroy the market by making that kind of a bid? bankers the kind than know where money comes from and how to have more printed money is a means to an end, who cares that they gave up an extra billion... thats just the cost of getting into a new market guess whats going to happen to this new market? as a sports fan i personally dont care much although this is the first time that ive kinda cared a tiny little bit but its been a happy time in dodger heaven lately so why bring up who exactly mark walter works for/with... who it is that really owns the los angeles dodgers i guess we could only let it go for so long before people start wondering why these guys go into mitt romney mode when asked for definite answers the owner isnt peter guber who owns other sports teams and entertainment studios and has lots of pull but still not him... he is the west coast business face of the team thats who he was brought in to get over with not stan kasten who is a brilliant leader in sports with a proven track record after turning around the hawks/braves/nationals in short time and taking them as far as they possibly could with fewer options than most... he is there to go over with the MLB people and of the hardcore fans and surely not magic who is just there to get over on... well pretty much everyone else because everyone loves magic sacred cows make the best meat shields who is taking the heat the most from TJ for not being honest? magic because he is the face of the team for the regular fan the reason he cant be honest is because the dodgers owners are extremely powerful way way way more powerful than the MLB its a joke to even talk about the stuff coming down the pike has to be kept quiet for legal reasons most likely and a lot of it wont look good for bud selig because it means frank mccourt is still going to 'win' eventually he will get more money out of this deal that only happens if the guggenheim people decide to build the business even larger and they will mccourt had HUGE dreams... these guys have the plans to make those dreams a reality for dodger fans that means our team is not going to have cash issues on the contrary the owners will be making money hand over first they wont sell the rights issues to time warner or anyone else that would divert a huge chunk of the money to the MLB like whats going to happen with the Lakers and their big TV contract the way to circumvent that is to make your own TV network, in more than one language multiple networks if you want for a company like this a baseball team is merely the first step into getting into new markets dodgers gets them content for their own networks more networks can then be added on to expand throughout the new market that 2.15B investment for Guggenheim will pay for itself soon, and then it will give billions of profits for years to come from the various other business that come out of it its probably what frank would have done if he had the cash money that these guys have but he couldnt get kasten to make the team a success on the field, guber to make the team a success in the boardroom, and magic to make the team a success on tv, in other words with the fans/media essentially making magic the dodgers PR firm what better PR guy than one everybody loves? for a long time that was tommy lasordas job but i think hes more or less our mascot now i never wanted the dodgers to have a mascot... but when tommy dies we need a guy in a fat suit in a #2 jersey running alongside 3B every once in a while
