I missed the entire game, and that was probably a good thing. I do know this, LA has had more hits, better pitching, and left more RISP than the cards. They have also beaten the 2 best pitchers on our team and 2 of the best pitchers in MLB. I hate this fucking cards team cause they always beat us when they have to....If some "divine intervention" occurs and we do get to the world series, this pitching staff knows they can't count on the bats to swing when they have to, to score runs when they have the chance to, in order to win. Also the fact that the cards are the better team because they can do these things to win games. NOT trying to be a hater, just shining the light on what I think the problems are based on what I see. Now this team HAS TO win 4 out of 5 games to go the next step.....and I'm not sure that's gonna happen. My prediction of I didn't think there was a Team in MLB that could beat this Dodgers team in a 7 game series was overlooked by how poor this team hits with RISP....a problem that may bring this team to the end of what has been a great year. Got to still believe they can do it, question is do they think they can. Gotta think positive my friends, despite the shit we have seen thus far in this series.
And btw, Ethier has a micro fracture in his leg, not just soreness. I know we all want to point blame and find lack of toughness during these times, but at this point skip is probably an upgrade over one legged Ethier. Shit just sucks, bad luck to get hurt rigt now... Same with Hanley. The rest of the team has to step up and we gotta hope they heal somehow
My apologizes to Ethier (and all his fans here) then. That was obviously not what was reported. I guess when you have a day game after a 13 inning night game the news isn't going to come in fast enough. That being said, this injury is how old now? Is this some new revelation that has occurred? Is this injury new because he did play the 13 inning game? Whatever...it looks like we are in deep shit. It's bad enough we're going without Kemp, and without Hanley I'm not the least bit confident we can beat the Cards. Ethier is more than likely not going to be the breaking point, at least not the 2013 Ethier anyway. I knew injuries would be our biggest adversary all along. Looks to be the biggest obstacle again.
He had healed barely to the point where he could run, then it was reported that morning after the game he couldn't make any turns in the OF, so he'd be useless in the outfield. So yeah, I mean it'd be pissed too if it was just being tired but it looks like he tried and just can't be on it. It's an injury that they said if it happened in the regular season he'd be shut down for like 6-8 weeks bt he's trying to get over it quicker.
get to the lcs, and three guys who are supposed to carry your offense (kemp, ethier, and hanley) are hurt or are ailing. lineup you run out there consists of punto, skip shumaker, and mark ellis.
You really think that what we are left with at this point is better than the Cardinals? It's like we hardly ever existed this season, how far we have fallen in so short a time...head-shaking. One guy made a mistake and said, "we'll find out soon who the Cards will be playing in the series". I cant agree , and that matters little or not at all, I understand, but this Cardinal team is barely beating a crippled semi-AAA version of the LAD. But I can't believe we are better than them right now. This lineup. We could beat them....anything can happen, but highly unlikely. Maybe a little fucking help from the 100 RBI Gonzo and the Whiff King Puig would make a difference, too... just a little. Their pitcher gets a hit and it's the beginning of a rally which gets them right back in the game. Our pitcher starts the inning with a hit, and dies on 3rd base. That is the difference. And that difference makes us losers. Sad how they have let us down. If he doesn't come back with at least some valid attempt at being a BB offensive player, then I don't think I'll ever look at Puig the same way again, no matter when it is. I never looked at Broxton the same way again either.
nice rant... I agree!! I've gone on record enough in favor of the raw talents of Puig but someone needs to tell him to protect the plate like its his grandma and don't let ANYTHING go by. These are the playoffs. These are the Cardinals, they pitch fucking good. Protect the damn plate. It's no only the bases loaded K but in general Puig seems gun shy all the sudden. He needs to hit the ball. And obviously DBB needs to leave Gonzo in the lineup
I believe this Dodger team is capable of coming back down 0-2. You older guys have seen it done multiple times by the boys in blue. It is possible; but we have to make adjustments, start hitting, and beat Wainwright tomorrow.
ah, was a different time lad... and a different team i recall us coming back down 0-2 against the yankees in '81 but that team had fire... and heart this team has shown flashes, but... not saying it can't be done, but it's a tall order
