Cool. I think a lot of commentators are becoming more receptive to information (I hate calling it sabrmetrics. We should be at the point where this is just valuable information) but they are still a little stubborn about writing off intangibles. So it's hard for me to get a feel for what's best for the team. If this is April, there is no question it's Seager of course.
WOOOOOOOOO Hope Turner and Peraza are gonna be fine but I think this is more about him becoming the primary backup 3B/SS like I thought they should've done. So excited.
well said chris and i think a lot depends on what seager does with this [albeit, small] opportunity if he goes puig 2.0, you almost have to play him but if he scuffles a bit who knows?
In one month, it could go either way to be honest, cause baseball is wack. I would give the edge to Seager cause he's a better talent, but it's not crazy to imagine Rollins out performing just due to an early Seager struggle and a well timed Rollins streak. But, Seagers got the edge in upside by far obviously I also would be surprised to see Seager get the nod as the starting shortstop though, just cause if they wanted him as a strict upgrade over Rollins, why not do it earlier. Feel like it's perfect for Seager to come up with Rollins here though cause seems as if Rollins has known his role on this team from day 1 and been willing to help others, and I doubt Seager will be any different
It's semantics, but I completely agree on calling things "saber metrics" and "advanced stats". Just call it stats and information and more people won't be turned off or find it condescending. I think Rollins intangibles are damn real though. It's just athlete cliche talk but Enrique has said numerous times about the help he's gotten from Rollins Then, you have players generally speaking that teammates help other teammates even more then coaches do. Idk if we will ever fully understand that dynamic, as far as intangibles go, but it's still intriguing in how impactful it can be
Gotta at least split and start getting in the series winning frame of mind. Ride some good baseball into the post. Regressing back to .500 ball would be so sour. That last 4 game series against the Giants need not be a significant one.
Idk who it was but I was listening to MLBN On XM radio and he was talking about how Donaldson "doesnt get the sabermetric love" and then went on a terrible rant declaring sabermetics idiotic. "He can't hit righties on Tuesdays with a temperature of 86 degrees it's dumb. Just play him, he can play." Just a complete disconnect lol
That's especially hilarious and off base when you consider a lot of the newer stuff is about removing making a big deal about small sample sized situations or stuff out of a hitters control
flashback... KEMP: "Tellin u kid, wach me n lurn." COREY: "Okay, I'm all ears." KEMP: "Don't trust whitey for a secund dawg, he awwayz keepin us down." COREY: "But I'm white." KEMP: "Wow, racist!" COREY: "Oh good God!"
Hell yeah!! I'm stoked for this but I hope Turner and Pozole are alright. Fucking hamstrings man sob!!!
Exciting. But I go with Jimmy in a playoff situation no matter what Seager does. I have a feeling Rollins might go out of frontline baseball with a bang, with Orlando Hudson there cheering him a long.
Hitting in the 8 hole and starting at SS..Sweet! http://www.truebluela.com/2015/9/3/9258095/corey-seager-major-league-debut-shortstop-dodgers
