Except that keeps Ryu and Trayce out until June so that kind of isn't happening. Ryu is healthy, for now, and Thompson is getting there

if they're placed on the 60 day 2/17 wouldn't they be eligible to come off 4/17?

David Robertson trade rumors bubbling up.
I've seen the idea floated that LAD should be in on him and it would make at least some sense if they were and maybe had something in the works there.
Romo struggles against left handed hitters, so his ability to set up is limited to an extent..Robertson doesn't struggle against lefties w/his cutter sawing lefties off inside.
The ceiling would be at a solid height with a late inning Robertson/Romo matchup tandem.
Honeycutt would have a little work to do w/each, but together they could serve as a solid/experienced duo in front of Kenley.
Some sort of trade w/ LAD attaching McCarthy to Puig for Robertson + CHISox spec(s).
CHISox finally get Puig and LAD sheds some payroll as well as opens up a spot or possibly two on the roster depending on what else they can add to it..won't go down the Jose Quintana road, but the CHISox do need a RF after sending Eaton to the Nats.
The way the FO put JDL on the trade block and just waited until somebody was smart enough to hand over their 2B for him..maybe something similar could happen with the Puig/McCarthy package that was offered to Milwaukee?
The majority of Gutierrez's experience has come in CF/RF ( and mainly RF as he's gotten older), but if one believes Bellinger will be in LF by June/July then the FO definitely has some work ahead of them with the OF regardless.
But the final picture in that scenario is maybe something like Joc/Trayce in CF, Toles/Gutierrez in RF, and Ethier/SVS in LF
The bench in totality would be Utley/Barnes/Trayce/Gutierrez/SVS with Forsythe taking the backup SS role and Kike on someone else's roster.
Or not in regards to a Robertson trade and they'll just look to match Dayton/Libby up late w/Romo, which are still good options..

Should be interesting to see what happens w/Detroit now and in the near future.
I could see them giving it one last go in honor of Ilitch, but it makes me start to think about future opps down the line.
Yankees probably have a strong enough farm to pull off a Miggy trade and still have young guys left to put around him..although, maybe they're just gonna focus on Harper/Machado in 2018 or Trout in the distant future.
But somebody dangerous could be landing Miggy soon enough I believe, or at least after the coming season.
Good thing SFG's farm is weak because that'd be some super-fuckery..I wonder if they could figure out something w/Cueto potentially coming off their books, and maybe some other guys, would they just flip Belt's ass to Detroit for Miggy..
    Fuck that

I have read a few reports already that say it gives them until a couple weeks into the season, not 60 days from the start. Someone yesterday said the team is really worried about the progression of Trayce, so 2 months now or even later could be in the cards. As for Ryu, it is likely he is not ready to start the season and the team may elect to keep him in ext ST to get him fully back and ready.

If Ryu isn't ready by now he'll never be
Or at least by the start of the season
If not, just DFA that guy

I was thinking this yesterday when the news broke that Ilitch had passed. The Tigers were going to go into rebuild this year, but he came out and asked the FO to give it one more run this year for him. It would have been interesting to see what they could have potentially gotten for their pieces, but they still should be a good team.
Really doubt the Giants go after Miggy. His leg problems likely have him set in the AL as he is probably going to need more regular days off in favor of the DH spot as he gets older(and bigger). Not to mention the Giants already have a problem on the horizon of what to do with Posey as he continues to wear down at the tail end of the season. There are definitely potential targets there though, I could see both J.D. Martinez and Kinsler as options for them. Something to keep in mind, it has been reported that the owner of the Giants has tightened the purse strings, so adding a contract like Miggy seems unlikely. At this point if I'm the Giants, I would prefer to have Belt over Miggy and try to fill a position of weakness like LF or 3B.

The reason they would use that for him is that then he can take the slow way back while the club has a bevy of other options currently. Nothing wrong with keeping him in extST then getting him as many MiLB games as it may take to shake the rust off. There is a definite positive to using the 60 day on him in his circumstances.

Tigers have to go thru probate and be transferred. Who knows the family makeup and who gets them. It could be the team has to be sold and divided amongst heirs who can't agree what to do with it or one son who has a different idea of how to run things...

No clue but it will be interesting to watch....

It's funnier when there were reports this year where they said the new FO style was making players wary of joining the Dodgers as current members of the club were upset.

I think it came from disgruntled scrubs and/or outsiders looking in. The core Dodgers appear to be happy.

Incredible how toxic the organization was for a while.
