regarding Cruz we still have he baseball classic to gauge his game.
Delmon young Defense is horrible enough to negate his offense as a lefty specialist but he certainly could be had unless the desperate for offense mariners don't get him.
we still have needs, I wonder if they really can get the lefty arm. Wilson is supposed to decide soon wonder if we are in

Former Giants closer Brian Wilson is generating plenty of interest this offseason, reports Scott Miller of CBSSports.com (on Twitter). The MVP Sports Group client isn't close to signing, but he has narrowed his list down from nine or ten teams to approximately five.

Wilson, 30, made just two appearances this past season before blowing out his elbow and needing a second Tommy John surgery. The Giants non-tendered him last month rather than pay a projected $8.5MM salary in 2013 through arbitration. They'll reportedly stay in touch with Wilson this winter, though the rival Dodgers are said to be kicking around the idea of signing him.

One thread extolling the virtues of Clayton Kershaw, and the fine traits he embodies, and why he means so much to the LAD. Not only as a top player, but as an individual and a man with values.
Now a thread which actually has information about signing this total jerk. I wouldn't mind if he was a real flake in his heart....that's fine with me....but this guy just tries too hard to be weird. He just looks for the camera and the opportunity to be the new Bill Lee or Jose Lima. Who were authentic, genuine.
Plus, don't we think his elbow is just a little fragile right about this point in his career? Just a wee bit?
What would this be for? To keep Juan Uribe company in the ex Giant section in the dugout ??

I despise Wilson. I would hate seeing him in Dodger blue every day. That guy is an ass clown, SF deserves to have him back.

this guy is a boston hack who doesn't always reference sources, so fwiw
although blf will surely be confident as fuck on one of them...

    • Opinions are mixed on the potential of first baseman/outfielder Jerry Sands, who has been traded from the Dodgers to the Red Sox to the Pirates. "He's one of those guys who could all of a sudden put up a big year if he gets the chance to play every day," said one AL GM. "Don't think he'll be that effective off someone's bench. He's got to get into a rhythm at the plate and when he does, he can hit."

No on Loshe. He's had 2 good years. He's overrated and will cost a pick.

    Kershaw
    Greinke
    Billingsley
    Ryu
    Beckett

Then you still have Capuano/Harang/Lilly left over.

No room nor need for Loshe

I liked the idea of signing Lohse before we got Zack, having said if it's a reasonable amount of money and years, why not. Never have enough pitching IMHO. IF they trade both Cap and Harang then I'd take that as a sign that this rumor is possible.

ugh! The year before he "figured it out" (dangerous words coming out of St. Louis), he had a WHIP of 1.70. He was so not good for a long time, and found it at 33? Whatever. That's fine for him and I won't deny his past 2 years have been quality stuff but if we are willing to part with a pick for Loshe, why couldn't have we signed Kuroda to a 1 year deal? Makes no sense.

    totally agree on kuroda
wanted to come here and would have been a great addition
imo no question that loshe > cap and harang combined
but > cap, harang and an draft pick?
    idk

    ^ speaking of neddie boy...
    • Dodgers GM Ned Colletti has always preferred to have a veteran backup catcher, which is why Steve Dilbeck of the L.A. Times wouldn't be surprised to see the team add an older backstop to compete with Tim Federowicz for the backup job behind A.J. Ellis. Federowicz, 25, has a .781 OPS in 2008 minor league plate appearances but just 20 Major League PAs over the last two seasons.

@ProspectInsider: Hearing Mariners have progressed in trade talks for a hitter. Indications it's Ethier. Multiple players involved.

Sounds like the rumors for ethier may be true. To the mariners. Question is if we send them dre and cap and harang who do we get?

I'll be so fucking pissed if we trade Dre. Especially if it is to sign Bourn. The FO would look like fucking morons for not going after Hamilton.

The difference with this approach is we would knock out a couple birds with one stone. Leadoff hitter with Bourne. He is a god defensively at least according to advanced metrics and we would presumably restock the farm. I guess Bourne would be a bridge to puig and it didn't require giving 150 to a guy with many question marks. This feels all kasten to me
