Sure, but it wasn't a straight up trade and it's only two months into the season. Dee's walk rate is like 4%. Once the hits stop coming it's going to be like the second half of last year all over again. HK is performing like we all expected him to.

I'm glad that Dee is having a great start over in Miami, but IMO it's nothing more than a hot start like last season. He has impressively cut down on the strike outs, but he still doesn't walk enough. I don't think Dee's offensive skill set plays into this Dodger team as well as Howie's.

And as far as the whole "boring" thing goes, as long as we win, who cares? The Cardinals are boring and they kick everyone's ass every year. I'd rather win and sacrifice some shenanigans if that's what it would take (the two don't correlate, but whatevs).

    well said, both of you
doesn't matter who you put on the roster/field if your leader is a dullard
i like almost all the moves the nerds have made and the direction we're headed
but continuing to give the lamborghini keys to a fucken hayseed is a recipe for failure
i like the '88 analogy about beating the a's
but even more impressive (at least to me) was beating the mets in the lcs -- a team that won 100 games, and had beaten us 10 of 11 times that season while outscoring us 49 to 18
we had no business beating that team and yet tommy somehow willed the guys to do just that
or as bob costas said before game four of the world series, "probably the weakest lineup in world series history"
    and yet they won
tommy got his guys to overachieve
whereas this current team wins in spite of their manager...

OK he still doesn't walk enough...the fckucing guy , last I heard, was batting .360 +. Three sixty something, in case you need another form to look at. For crissakes, what else can this kid do? He's turned into a really fine hitter now, and his 2B D is more than adequate. You can talk about an "offensive skill set" as not playing into ours as well...but with all due respect, those numbers fit anywhere. ANYWHERE. sure he'll fade some probably at year's end, the skinny little kid can' t hang with the big boys...like Puig and Ryu and McCarthy and CC and...oh, wait...
Didn't you kind say it yourself? If he doesn't walk so much but has those numbers, so what?
As far as boring, I didn't write that initially, but I certainly agree... Dee's probably the most exciting player in the game, or near the top. Give me a break. If some fans prefer him flying around, then it is what it is...I do, too.
Nothing against Howie, mind you...he's a fine ballplayer.
But it's only two months for HK and Jroll, also...and people want him so gone already, it makes your head spin.
There one other thing I think: playing the Cardinals and getting beat like a red-headed stepchild again is not going to put any die-hard Dodger fans in a good mood. Nope.

    Good point.
Tommy, although a promotional genius, was not a bb genius, IMO. But his inate motivation and incredible insights and button pushing made him a deserved HoFer...in every way. get the most or even more out of players that what they ever believed themselves capable of. Look at Giant Head Bochy.
Leadership, fire, call you a name if he thought you needed it, balls...all there. In fact, maybe that is bb genius.
That what makes teams winners sometimes...unless you've got a well-oiled machine like the Cardinals do.

meh. i might be the biggest Dee fan here, but the Dodgers have Puig and Pederson as their 1-2/young top of the order cornerstone players. Kendrick being a more than capable middle of the order right handed bat is the better fit for what they need.

guess you could say that this is another one that goes above and beyond who fans prefer. i mean it's fun to talk about and all, much like all the Kemp and Hanley stuff, but just to put it into perspective..it just makes the most baseball sense to trade a little leadoff hitter like Dee when you don't need him. #rosterconstruction

Scott Schebler getting called up, pretty cool but also means that Howie Kendrick is likely going on the DL which is shitty news

Injuries just keep on piling up

Why are we calling up an OF if Kendrick is going on the DL?

Enrique, Callaspo, and Turner can all play 2B well, no need to call up a 2B

Meanwhile in the OF, it's just Heisey and Enrique that can play OF, under the assumption Guerrero is a starter in LF

A bit more pop than 2011 but yeah. Thank Christ puig is almost back. Not sure if he's officially going on the DL but knee stiffness.
