Audibling to " Kershaw " doesn't mean the QB chokes and lets the whole team down on that play?:headscratch: Definitely would've fooled me with that one

Hitters seemed to go into cruise mode after the first two hitters went deep. Apparently they thought the game was won.

Going silent against a pitcher with with a 6.57 ERA? Inexcusable.

A year that could have been an all time record breaking season turns into a bag of mush before our eyes. The same sack of shit as always.
Sure, it was a bad pitch for the GS, and the walks an oddity...but the RISP and the inability to get men in is overwhelmingly bad. He can't always be razor sharp.
Fire and fury to start off the game immediately, and then the big snooze and nothing from then on out. The big shut down. From that Philly pitcher?
Oh, yeah, I forgot...the freak rarity HR by Grandy. I guess that means he " got right" now...like a Ya$ HR that earns another month of 1- 38 ABs.
Looks like the setup for the usual disappointment and another time this team will tear the heart out of it's fans...
Even as the uber pessimist, ( and I was actually turning from the dark side), I would try and find a ray of legit hope, but from what we have witnessed in the last month, can anyone find anything but head shaking disbelief in the myriad of ways this team will lose ?
Does anyone really believe the results against these other post season teams will differ from what it always is this time?
And what is infuriating...is the fact that the killer weaknesses that have plagued us year after year ultimately, are still the fucking same ones they always were.

Claytonus Kershawology, the study of choking in the fall..getting slammed by a AAA team has to be somewhere within it's origins

Sorry but that was stupid of you not to go. You could have taken a steamy dump and not flushed it, right in the middle of Angels Stadium.

Unfortunate loss yesterday and of course EXTREMELY frustrating but it's a classic case of playing down to the opponent. Unfortunately we won't be playing a potential playoff opponent until the last 2 games of the year which is VERY worrisome.

But really...what's the difference??? We don't rise to the occasion, or anything near it. It would be a whole different ball of wax, if we did.
The last time we played playoff teams, we got swept seven in a row.
And then, the second worst team in the ML, and a 5- 10 pitcher with an almost 7 ERA makes us look like so much garbage? K after K...
Keep tinkering, Dave...aim for the stars...

I had postseason tickets in the check out box for NLCS Games 1 and 2 and chickened out of it. I think I'd rather watch at home instead of stressing out in person and making a big trip out of it. I can enjoy it just as much at home without spending as much money. Am I crazy for this

I encourage you to go to the NLDS at least. Prices are not outrageous at all and it's a great atmosphere. If we are playing the Brewers pack breakfast.

That was a confluence of events not a indication in my mind at all of the future. Zona was completely on fire and have cooled down since then and have lost to the Gnats and the Pads (last night). Imagine you are in a 162 game schedule and you are pretty close to clinching the intensity can't humanly be the same as before. NOT saying we are alright not by any means but when it gets closer I think this team will be a different one. At least I fucking hope so!!!!! :D

If the Dodgers string together a winning streak the last week, week and 1/2 of the season, I'll be happier because there will be some momentum going into the postseason.

But if they keep limping along like this.....it's just a bad omen.

You don't have time to "get right" in the playoffs. Every game needs to be your A game, with your A players.

I hope the team and Roberts gets that.

Does Roberts want to intentionally waste our ace pitchers' starts?

Is he trying to test their mettle by putting them in situations that will destroy their confidence?

Roberts....again, why not wrap things up as early as you can before getting people right!!!!!?????!!!!!

That has been tried by many.
It also leads to a letdown right as the playoffs get going.
    This is a different strategy.
Of course Dave could have tried the other strategy that most suggest.
Which only means that the same people bitching now would still be bitching except later.
Because a bitch is a bitch is a bitch.

I guess I am like Dave.
If I now that old man Ethier is good to go I stop playing him other than a game or so a week to keep him relevant.
Because I know Ethier can hit. That will never change, I can see that in practice and in a few games.
All I need to see about Ethier is if he is healthy enough so that there is nothing physical affecting his swing.
His swing is fine then I know he will hit. And what I want is to keep him well enough so that his swing is not affected.
So why play him when it does not matter?
He is our Kirk Gibson this year in some sort of way.
You take him out of the china cabinet only when you need him.
Then put him back and hope he does not break... cuz the dude is a glass cannon.

But because he is a glass cannon it is a good idea to try and get somebody else going in LF so that we know what guy to put in the lineup or on the roster depending on what round we are in the playoffs.

    clarity huh?
put taylor in cf and in lf start ethier against rhp and kiké against lhp
and stop trying to force granderson into the mix
that clear enough for you dave?
and while you're at it, how about giving barnes more starts -- especially against rhp, where he's an mlb leading .348/.474/.478?
you're making this a lot harder than it is meat :smh:

Roberts still seeking clarity in left field
by Matthew Moreno | Dodger Blue — 19 minutes ago

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts recently said he intended to decide on a set lineup as the regular season winds to a close. That would entail finding an answer in left field, where Andre Ethier, Curtis Granderson, Kiké Hernandez and Joc Pederson have all logged time.

It’s a position the Dodgers have seemingly juggled players throughout the season. Heading into the year, Ethier was competing for a starting role in left field, Hernandez was more of a backup infielder and center fielder and Pederson was entrenched in center.

Ethier’s herniated disc injury removed him from the lineup, and Andrew Toles suffered a season-ending knee injury in May. Cody Bellinger temporarily filled in but has since become the starting first baseman.

Of late, Granderson has been the primary starter in left. Roberts expressed hope regular playing would help the veteran outfielder break out of a slump.

That hasn’t yet manifested, and neither has a clearer picture at the position, via Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

“No more clarity. Clarity would help. It’s still tough because the challenge is running one particular guy out there vs. trying to share the opportunity. You could argue both sides.”

The more Granderson continues to struggle at the plate, it may create an opportunity for Pederson. Though, he too is going through a skid, which presumably played a role in the Dodgers trading for Granderson last month.

Albeit in a much smaller sample size, Ethier has fared best among the three. Considering he didn’t come off the disabled list until Sept. 1, Roberts said the Dodgers are not convinced Ethier is capable of withstanding an everyday role.

Another option that can be ruled out is Chris Taylor. He spent two months (June-August) primarily playing left field, but Roberts recently said the team views him as a center fielder.
