I'm rambling tonight (combination of the wine and it being after 1 am in Ohio), but I think Barnes might be the unsung hero tonight with a couple of hits and some saves on balls in the dirt (no homo) that would make Jonathan Quick jealous. He was nails behind the plate.

Sac fly after that was Turner's best contact of the postseason. Good to see. Hope that gets him going.

didn’t realize it was first pitch new reliever. That’s gotta be some advance scouting or coaching there to make that call, that was awesome

Manny "Fuck You" Machado aka "I only run 'em when I feel like it."

Thank you Friedman and Co for not shelling out big $$$ for this bitch.

Loved to see us beat the shift twice tonight - Corey poked one through the open left side and I believe that Muncy's pop single would've been caught if the SS was positioned straight up.

Before the game I had commented on how Barnes hitting 9th perfectly positions him in front of Mookie and Corey. Sure enough, two singles and a walk in his three ABs, accounting for 2 runs scored (his and Betts' after the fielder's choice).

Great to see Seager and Bellinger making up for last year, and even Pollock isn't K'ing every AB.

Smith's stat line isn't reflecting his near misses. Hopefully tomorrow one of those carries the distance.

Joc and Kike are still nothings at the plate.

Kershaw really only made one mistake pitch. Overall he kept us in the game and picked up another postseason W, this time against a better offense.

I've got nothing positive to say about Jansen, other than maybe the grey hair I got tonight on account of him won't be for naught if this is the game that opens Roberts eyes.

... better teammate, better clubhouse presence...

Would've been sweet irony if Bellinger hustling down the line had beat Machado's throw in the 8th.

Before tonight the team hitting the most HRs in a game was 19-0.

    Make that 19-1.

Betts got his, Cody got his, Seager finally hit a few hard hit balls that weren't right at someone. Will Smith still got fucked, but mostly good offensively

Don't forget secret weapon Bad News Barnes. A couple of hits and a walk. Didn't even mind him getting thrown at third to end an inning. Perfect throw and great tag by Manny the Bitch.

We got the error from Hosmer yesterday, which only happens because they are rushed with Belli busting ass down the line. I’m fairly certain the Padres would have at least one more hit in this series if they actually put pressure on our defense by running them out. What amazes me is they don’t seem to care.

Shouldn't be surprised when one of your celebrations get thrown back in your face. Normally I don't care for what the Bazooka did last night, but considering the opposition, I loved it. Best part was how his teammates backed him.

If last night's cardiac episode is what it takes to finally give Kenley the Old Yeller treatment, so be it.

Dominant closers have a shelf life and Kenley has obviously passed his. He's been very good for a lot longer than most.

My suggestion is closer de jour. Use Treinen (my #1 option), Graterol or Victor.

the celebration stuff honestly doesn't bother me at all
its a part of the game now
they had a pregame commercial for the game w machado and tatis crossing their arms and posing trying to look all gangsta
i knew that had to blow up in their faces
and then his bat flip chest pounding act only to turn around and take issue w brusdar?
i'm w you on all of this though
then again we were taught to act like we've been there before
way back when things like class and shame were an actual thing

Still can’t believe we won that game. Won a game where our closer blew it, won a game where they got momentum in the 7th inning, won a game where Kershaw gave up 2 home runs, won a game that the Padres absolutely needed to win.

close it out today. Speaking of which, the no off days is god damn exhausting lol can’t even imagine how the players feel

What Brusdar did reminded me of Chef, in Apocalypse Now.
He was in the jungle, scouting around, and a tiger came leaping out of the bush at him. He barely mde it back to the PBR, and was so freaked out by almost getting wasted by a tiger in the middle of a war, he screams and rips his clothes off. Madness.
I think Brusdar was so relieved by Bellinger's heroic catch, he couldn't contain himself.
" Absolutely never get out of the fucking boat"...
I myself, ripped off my sweat pants and shirt, alarming my poor dog...who looked up and thought, "Jesus...I'm too old for this shit".
Two other things...Bellinger's catch will be a bb/Dodger lore forever. But Muncy @ 1st base leather was absolutely superb, saving some pretty wonky throws from the IF in general. Max is back, hopefully.
The other is: how the fuck can the commissioner look at Machado and his behavior and just ignore it ?
Standing on the field and screaming " fuck you" over and over ? Are you kidding ?
The celebratory stupidity is rival to NFL shit that's been going on for years after a TD or even a sack...but what he did is confrontational, challenging, and detrimental to the game and should be addressed. Harshly, and immediately.
What is Kelly's penalty and suspension compared to that kind of low class behavior ?
Looking the other way on that is why teams can just cheat and steal a WS, and be totally arrogant about it after they're caught.
