He will, so go for it. Obvious moves when Joc and Forsythe come back should be DFA Utley And option a reliever to get back to 13 position players and 12 pitchers
SportsNet LA is bad at making a Vin top calls list. Adrian Gonzalez sucks and should resign in disgrace. Death, taxes, Grandal looking like a moron at the plate. Utley is done. Screw the Giants.
Well at least I can say I was at Vin's last broadcast and now his ring of honor ceremony!! Messers Seager, Turner and Gandmal killed us today in key moments. Chase was totally confused and A-Gon should be put on the DL. Cody JUST missed his lone solid contact to right center and that throw from Yasiel that almost got Panik I think would have been on best plays of the last 2 years but alas he was barely safe. All in all a performance that I kind of expected especially after that 13 run outburst.
you may be right 4 walks in 5 innings tonight (on 88 pitches), 4 in 5⅔ last time (90) kersh had the same problem early in his career trying to be too perfect instead of just letting it go
No excuse for getting shut down by bonafide scrubs like Matt Cain and Jeff samardzija. We really came up looking like castrated fools in both of these series.
I'm still baffled at Utley getting starts over Taylor and Enrique. Look, Utley might be the coolest person to ever walk on earth but he's just staring at pitches all day
Adrian, if he catches that bullshit grounder, stops the tie and we win...I guess. He went after it like a man with a bad back, and in light of the recent herniated disk revelation, it all fits... Bitching about him at the plate is common and probably deserved, albeit not the singular droning mantra of some- to that degree. But his defense, always stellar and consistent, is something new to question...and if "hurting the team" goes along with it, it is time for some measure by Dave/FO to take place. It can be done diplomatically and with class but needs to be done. However, when I read people retort with things like " we wouldn't have gotten there without him" when leaping to Joe Blanton's defense when someone mentions his historic meatball in the playoffs ( like me), I do have to think of where the fuck would we have been the last four years without Adrian Gonzalez??
SFG is a club that takes a ton of pitches, but that´s the approach in general when the opposition knows a kid as talented as he is has a pitch limit at 85-90 pitches. Teams are just gonna keyhole, foul off and spoil to an even greater degree. If Julio´s taking the mound without a pitch limit it changes much of the picture/approach on both sides and he´s more than likely getting through 6 innings no probs. There´s definitely some trust that he has to have as well, however, as Joe was saying last night, Julio has the best numbers in MLB since last year´s all-star break, so really the numbers that are killing him is the pitch limit. We sit and wait for him to get strong enough to bust through the pitch limit and for his confidence level to grow to a degree..probably won´t be until next season, but I think one will help the other.
I think much of the same. And then I see both Taylor´s/Kike´s defense @ 2B and I begin to see why. There was a point last season in which Howie had arguably the hottest bat in the NL, but he still couldn´t take 2B from an Utley who was struggling offensively because frankly Howie sucked at the position defensively, so LF it was for him. All to say that they do value defense, specifically, up the middle defense. They were giving Taylor a lot of work in CF at one point in ST to sort of make it Kike VS Taylor for a roster spot, but maybe they should´ve been giving Taylor more work at 2B
They all were I lost count of how many first strike pitches I watched where the bat never left the shoulder. Giants memo to Samardjzdjzda: throw strikes on the first pitch Dodgers memo "he never throws strikes on the first pitch, only Puig is allowed to swing (wildly) everyone else just watch"
yeah homer plate umps giving him 'rookie treatment' still of course last night everyone got the 'homer' treatment, none of our guys were getting 'edge' pitches like Samarddjzdjzdja
Totally With a visible hologram strike frame at the plate and automatic strike/ball calls with visible replays on the scoreboard for each pitch No more doubt. No more Angel Hernandez vindictiveness
Home plate umps would still have plenty of duties. Signaling the computer registered strikes, replenishing balls [no homo], keeping the pace of play going, plays at the plate, fair/foul, lineups and switches, etc. They don't need the burden of calling balls and strikes if the technology can easily replace it and do a much better job. There should be no bias or inconsistency in a strike zone.
