Dodgers starters have now walked two or fewer batters in 32 consecutive games, the longest single-season streak by a National League team since 1914, according to Stats LLC. http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/dodger-report/post/_/id/10886/rapid-reaction-dodgers-9-cardinals-1 _
Tonight our starting pitchers' season ERA dropped below 3.00, stopping at 2.99. Eliminate Maholm, Fife, and Patterson from that group, leaving our regular starters and it's an unreal 2.76. Our fifth starter, Haren, has an ERA of 3.57, better than all but six other teams' average ERAs among their starting staff. Seventeen of the 30 teams don't even have one starter with a lower ERA than Haren. Twenty-three of the 30 don't have two starters with ERAs lower than Haren, and 26 of the teams don't have three starters registering lower ERAs. Dodgers have the 3rd, 7th, 18th, and 25th best ERAs in the NL. Kershaw is 5.2 innings shy of qualifying, otherwise he'd fit in at the third spot. Dodger starters also have 41 wins. No other team's rotation has more than 36. The Gnats, whom many predicted had a comparable or better starting rotation coming into the season, have only 29 wins from their group, and they've all been healthy this year. The Dodgers only rank 2nd among the 30 teams in K's by the starters, but what really makes this number special is that they pair it with the lowest walk-rate in MLB.
fucken ckunt jinxes... Mark Saxon/ESPN: The Dodgers' rotation is five games away from setting the MLB record for the most consecutive starts walking fewer than three batters. __
HAREN: "I've been on some good staffs, but it's tough to hold my weight here. Every time out, the guys have been dealing and it's been fun to watch. I've just tried to maintain the momentum, and I haven't really done that until [yesterday]." __
