As much as I would have liked to keep Scherzer, at $43M per year for 3 years, that’s just crazy. There is a reason the Nats traded him away, and his dead arm was not a good sign even though I do put a lot of the blame on Roberts for that. The thing is, if Bauer wasn’t such a moron, we would not have needed Scherzer in my opinion. In terms of where the Dodgers go from here, I think the emphasis has to be on retaining either Seager or Trea Turner, and finding a replacement for CT (don’t think the Dodgers want to pay him what he wants and maybe able to get elsewhere). We may need to explore a replacement for JT as well. Getting long in the tooth. As for SP, if Dustin May’s recovery looks good, I think we’re not in too bad a situation. Buehler will hopefully learn how to pitch better in pressure situations with this past experience, perhaps Roberts won’t do stupid things and abuse Urias, and Gonsolin will find a rhythm. I can’t think of another SP on the market worth reaching for.
