Yes. In the event someone got hurt, he'd be the best option for an extended period of time.

I wouldn't mind but is there even room on the roster?

Yep, this is where it gets tricky. You ideally want your bench players to be able to backup multiple positions.

Didn't he win a Gold Glove that year? I bet O-Dawg can still flash the leather.

I think after the NLDS Jimmy Rollins gave him the roll of full time cheerleader.

    Yeah.
I suggested that weeks ago. Even if they use him until August or something, then DL him or whatever.
Under those conditions, I don't think he can hurt us ( except for the money, which would be a paper cut to the Dodgers.).

There are currently a couple guys like Utley and Blanton that make sense for our team, but the FO might be waiting to see what happens with trades over the next few weeks. A Braun trade, for instance, would likely open at least one spot on the 40-man roster. But having guys available like Utley and Blanton, makes trading for and using a 40-man spot on Eibner all the more confusing. What's the plan there?

Have we actually heard anything on Braun since August though? Or are we fans just making it up?

The guy that broke the Turner and Jansen news said that his sources told him the club is still kicking around on both Braun and McCutchen. It sounds like some of the MLB radio guys have heard the same thing. Bowden last night was talking about how the club needs to just "go for it". I think even Rosenthal mentioned the other day that the Dodgers are keeping an eye on Braun, whether they trade for him now, in spring training or at the deadline.

They could have traded for him thinking he could slip through waivers or they are planning on making some other moves and need OF depth that they can bring back and forth from MiLB. The guy they traded for him was a non-prospect.

Interesting article about how Dayton has one of the better fastballs in baseball. It would be really nice if he could improve on his slider and potentially mix in more of a two seam or cut to offset batters eventually sitting on the fourseam. They would not need to be elite pitches, but something good enough to disguise his reg four seam better.

Maybe the Pirates wouldn't trade Andrew McCutchen unless they were getting back Alex Verdugo, Brock Stewart AND Brett Eibner

A move I'm not sure I would make. Eibner has become an integral piece.

How do you feel about Mccutchen?

Will cost more in prospects and is coming of a -0.7 WAR. A move to a corner OF spot will help his defense and his contract is much more ideal for our 2019 and beyond outlook (Mccutchen is signed through 2018 at a very reasonable rate). The Brewers seem to line up better. I don't think anything we would offer fits into the Pirates plans.
