i'm annoyed (about morrow) but not worried
    they always seem to find/retool a turner/taylor/morrow
so, like colorado said, they've got another 2-3 months to put shit together
but i'm really hoping for ozuna

That's the spirit. The FO knows our system so there's always internal options. Somehow convince Kenta perhaps? With all the moves of the weekend by other teams Vegas still sees us as favorites the gap just closed is all. Dennis Santana is an interesting guy on the 40 man and Lib your fave will be back I think.

The FO was more like a FO building! Like they really need depth at every office position too?

Personally, I’ve been VERY negative the past few days, but I’m not panicking. We have the best team in MLB. We could easily have been WS champions this year. I just thought Stanton was a very unique situation that was a good fit for us for a number of reasons, not all related to wins/dollar... I get the risk involved, and understand our FO’s thinking. But I am also concerned we can be too analytical, and to our detriment. Baseball is about wins, yes, but it’s also about fun. Stanton would have been fun.

It definitely sucks, but it sounds like it was only really down to the Mariners and Angels. Once he had west coast AL teams telling him he would DH a couple times a week and let him play the field when he wasn’t pitching, it was over for us. It’s just going to REALLY piss me off if he DH’s for like 3 months, is exactly what many predicted him to be(a well below average DH) and then he doesn’t do it anymore. It’s going to be interesting to watch if the bat doesn’t play as well, he’ll be kicking himself for not selecting an NL team.
Front line starters could be Darvish(not likely), Cole and Archer, but it sounds like they want someone with control. I’m sure they’re kicking the tires on some people we’re not thinking of. One that is out of LF and is completely just me thinking out loud, Marcus Stroman could be one to watch. The Jays are coming off a pretty bad season, have two great prospects, a third who is decent and then nothing else in the top 100. They’re also a franchise that is rumored to be on the market, so they could be looking to scrap big pieces for cheaper prospects as some tend to do.

Hoornstra is saying the Morrow deal is not done yet and the terms being reported are incorrect. Though what I had seen was the deal was pending a physical which is never certain with a guy like Morrow.

Because any FO bed shitting is minimized and taken out of any equation when we can't make a move because of financial restrictions imposed by piss poor signings like these?
Talk about spending big dollars on albatrosses...useless, ridiculously expensive, and impossible to off load to anyone else it seems. Dead, rotting carrion.
That's why these harpies are harped on...by those who don't feel compelled or obligated to taint lick the FO, no matter what they do or have done.

Rockies, Cards and Mets all said to be aggressively pursuing Alex Colome.
What about Giants and DBacks or any more of LAD's comp?
Where are the fuckin AL teams in this?

Show me a team that doesn't have bad contracts or dead money. Shit will happen when dealing with human beings.

Bad contracts and dead money accumulated mostly from trying to revive this org after Frank and Ned's shit show.
But I will show you a team that doesn't have bad contracts and dead money..Philly, who's basically been shit since '09

Doesn't change any of OUR situation. Dodgers wanted to off Kazmir's bad $$$$$ and the Marlins told us too piss up a rope, plain and simple so I don't get how saying, "Yeah, but what about all the bad deals the ________'s GM has made?" changes that. These guys have pissed away TENS OF MILLIONS on nothing to put us over the tax threshold. No Stanton, just justification as to why it's OK, which sucks. I'd much rather be like my buddy Marc (the Yankee fan) who's been beside himself with happiness all weekend then someone rationalizing over some fund manager's checkbook who charges $100 to park my car.

Exactly my point in my 1st foray into this subject I said it doesn't change anything so why are always harping on it. It's always brought up like it's something that can be changed. The players in question aren't dead yet and MAYBE can be utilized somehow. As for Stanton his contract would have been worse for us and the luxury threshold but admittedly it would have been fun but that's not the direction.

Edit: A bit of previous post clean up, Yankees are now Vegas faves at 5 - 1

Your response is exactly what I meant...those other teams who did bad contracts are reasons why they fucked up...apples and oranges. Not to mention, plenty of them have been WS champions...bad contracts and all, haven't they? Like the fucking SF Giants- plenty of bad contracts. Plenty of rings.
I wouldn't mind if we had one or two in the books. I could see your undying allegiance to them...but even in the face of repeated loser failure, you still want to milk them. No matter what...only blind support is a valid come away?
Show me the 29 teams that have won since our last championship, and I'll sbow you a bad contract or contracts they had but rose above.
To become baseball champs...but not us.

Didn't mean to infer that we didn't fuck up but again what can be done NOTHING it's over let it go. Those players can still contribute we will have to see if they can but if they are on the books why not use them? To be clear I don't have an undying allegiance but I'm not going to just dump them without seeing what is left and the FO hasn't either so they must have a plan for them. Waste of time very likely.
