    cross ramos off the board
    • The New York Mets have agreed to a two-year contract with veteran Wilson Ramos, according to multiple reports. The deal is pending a physical. Once completed, it will be worth a total of $19 million, according to Fancred.

Alex Wood has High School jersey retired
by Daniel Starkand | Dodger Blue — 16 December 2018
    [IMG]
Despite beginning the 2017 season in the bullpen, Alex Wood emerged as an elite starter for the Los Angeles Dodgers and pitched his way to an All-Star campaign. Wood went into this year with a spot in the starting rotation and looking to build off his breakout season.

While he wasn’t quite able to do that, Wood still gave the Dodgers some solid innings when a lot of the team’s other starters were out with injuries. In 27 starts, Wood went 8-7 with a 3.65 ERA before being demoted to the bullpen at the beginning of September.

He then appeared in six games as a relief pitcher to close out the year, giving up two runs in 3.2 innings (4.91 ERA). Overall in 33 games, Wood pitched to a 3.68 ERA, 3.53 FIP and 1.21 WHIP while striking out 135 and walking 40 in 151.2 innings.

The 27-year-old has carved out a solid six-year Major League career for himself to this point, which is definitely something to be celebrated.

He recently got the chance to do that as the high school he graduated from in 2009, Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, North Carolina retired his jersey, via Wood’s Instagram account.

Wood’s name has been involved in some trade rumors this offseason, particularly with the Cincinnati Reds as they look to upgrade their starting rotation.

If he remains with the Dodgers, then he will have to win his starting rotation spot back this spring. The 2019 season is his final year under contract before he becomes a free agent for the first time.

By Harper's logic, 52, 61, and 70 are all just as good.

    • Supposedly the camp for Yasmani Grandal has reached back out to the Dodgers. It is believed the sides could be exploring a 1 year deal to bring him back. He’s running out of suitors it sounds like as teams are hesitant to lose their pick.
    • Jim Duquette yesterday interjected a convo about the Dodgers OF and how they’re trying to move everyone. One of the guys said that it should be easy to find someone for Puig and Duq responded “nobody wants Puig”. He didn’t go into a lot of detail, but he added that his sources are telling him that there is nobody in the league that seems to be interested in him.
    • With the heaviest pursuer of Realmuto now out of the equation, the Marlins are said to want to have this figured out before Christmas. They’re leaning towards keeping Realmuto as they are still very far apart in talks as they’re still asking for an insane return.
    • It was speculated before, but now more concrete reports are coming out of Cleveland where the word is that they’re now planning to keep Kluber and Bauer.
    • The Dodgers are said to have heavily ramped up attempts to move their glut of OF’ers. There could be a number of reasons why, but speculation is that they are trying to free up room for Harper and don’t want to be put in a position where teams can take advantage of them if they were to land him before making deals. I would not be shocked if they start making some deals this week.

The Marlins should be contracted from MLB. They trade Stanton, Yelich, and Ozuna for less than what they want for Realmuto? I get Stanton had $$$ baggage and obviously there's a shortage of competant catchers..but they seriously want Bellinger? Absurd. How much do you want to bet they screw up their chance to get a good return, we sign GrandMal, and 2 days later Realmuto is traded to another team for 3 B-level specs and a bucket of balls?

Puig gets some unfair treatment, man.
The Astros, Cards, Cubs, etc are all willing to sign wife choking, gun firing, alcoholic felons but Puig is where everyone draws the line? He's a good guy and a good player. The Nats are stupid for not making that waiver trade.

Huge bummer about Kluber. Seemed imminent we'd be adding another ace and moving an OFer. Ugh

This NBA communist luxury tax fucking us over is getting old. Sign the players who will help us win.

If nobody wants Kemp, dump his ass. If you cant find a suitor for Joc, Verdugo and/or Puig, idk what to say.

If he really wants to honor Mantle and #7 is that important to him he can sign a 7 year contract worth $7MM

Shocking that nobody wants Puig. That brawl with the Giants could have been the final straw..starting a brawl over your right to be silly at the plate is as stupid as it sounds. Sounds as stupid today as it did when it happened. I imagine a ton of teams can't wait to clear the benches and have their expensive assets out there fighting over that kind of BS..kid from the Giants actually got hurt. Or maybe he's licked enough bats and kissed enough men to snuff out whatever value he had initially? Or it could be this " disgruntled " report, Puig in contract year mode and done with being platooned in his mind. Or his drop off defensively this year and weird stuff on the basepaths. Maybe all of the above, but certainly not a case of, " Really? I can't believe it. " BR projects Puig at a .787 OPS next season, which sounds about right..where he was headed this season before he hit however many HRs it was against the Cards in that one series at the end of the year. Cards singlehandedly saved his year.

Said it a while back, will say it again..I struggle to see a great fit for Puig as well. The contenders in the league have their set culture and probably just frown on dropping a drama queen act into the mix that they have..especially since the clown show isn't even a guarantee to crack a 2 fWAR ( which he didn't this year). So is it worth all the baggage to a contender? Probably not. What about a young rebuilding team, anybody out there want to expose their young players to the underachieving clown show? Probably not. We're looking for a special case here in trying to find Puig a home..I saw some stuff about the Mets perhaps having interest and they sort of have their own clown show going right now in just being the Mets, so they may actually be the only real fit here. Puig and Cano have a relationship..Puig and Cespedes obviously have a connection. Maybe he'd fit there?
