    Polio was already on the rise before WW2 and before DDT was even developed. It's believed that the rise was a result of cleaner living conditions and infants being less exposed to disease (a sort of natural immunization process). If there's a link between DDT and the rise in Polio cases, it is more likely that the reduction of insects spreading disease was more influential. The Polio vaccine is nearly 100% effective so measuring the affect of DDT reduction is impossible, but since Polio existed before DDT, to say it's reduction is better than 100% effective sounds impossible.

    DDT is still used in a bunch of African countries
    Polio has been largely eradicated in Africa
    I suspect the vaccine is the causal agent, not the DDT.

    I'm all for POTUS jabbing, but I'm moving this to the Politics thread.

    So the POTUS can troll but we can't troll about fundamental aspects of the POTUS' character? It's gonna be a long 4 years if you can't take some jabbing.

    Just curious here, no need to respond with insults or cliche anti-liberal jokes.

    Do you believe the United States 100 years from now will look more like Obama's America or Trump's America? Doesn't seem to make much sense to me, to push back against things like gay marriage, abortion, etc, when the vast majority of people under 25 are very liberal on those issues. Seems to me like it's a last grasp at "the old times" that'll face an inevitable death sooner or later.

    Happy to say that I attended the Bowie tribute at the Wiltern last night and there was almost NO talk of politics at all, just music
    the only time it came up was gavin rossdale before singing im afraid of americans
    he started saying he didn't want to be afraid of the president but..
    and the crowd let him have it so he shut it down quick and went into the song
    the crowd and musicians were there to celebrate music just like it should be
