not that he needs a comparison to anyone but one of the bspn announcers mentioned the straw i can sorta see that
6th on the team in OBP, 2nd in walks. .325 batting average, .494 and .956 versus lefties. It's the right handers that's been killing him. NOT saying he hasn't been under performing but you make it sound like he has no redeeming qualities. Platoon him vs righties and he'll look better not perfect but better. As for what he was supposed to bring, he was brought here to hit lefties, mission accomplished SO FAR.
OK...if it's that important for you to be right...then you are unerringly right, correct, spot on, cash on the barrel head. I am totally wrong, unfair and don't see what I think I see, which is an overall disappointment from what we were supposed to be getting, and his almost zero production against RH, who I thought were part of baseball, too, actually means nothing. Or it used to...I didn't know he was signed as a platooning piece. Tremendous signing, and his incessant watching of third strike pitches sail over the plate, is a good thing, as you wrote. Btw, if I write that it is a positive that he can play third, that would be a redeeming quality, I'm almost positive. Anyway, he's fab/gear !!!
and a .318 slugging percentage hitting too often in #5 hole of late. Also Ks way too often for player with 3 HRs.
Unfortunately, the bulk of baseball is against righthanders. His main redeeming quality is that he can kill lefties. He was brought in to be the starter at 2B and to help with lefties. But that was before the team made a massive jump in hitting vs lefties. And even hitting vs righties has improved a lot. Which makes Forsythes low production there stand out more. And also before the emergence of Taylor and now Barnes who are making Forsythe less important. Then throw in the fact that Utley is still a big threat vs right handers and you have a recipe for Forsythe being purely a platoon player and pinch hitter. And on the bad side of the platoon. But he has value as one of the last guys on the bench. As much value right now as a Kike, maybe a little more.
You could be right I do like to be right but hey who doesn't. I've been wrong plenty of times hey I thought getting Logan for JDL was a bad idea and JDL is still in the minors. Your basic premiss is correct he's been bad just using the eye test but fact remains he was brought here to hit lefties (when it was a problem Rube yes) and he has done that so as I wrote a platoon is the best option to ME. Just because Doc isn't looking at the numbers is his decision but he keeps doing it so who are we to get on his case when this team is excelling. One of the strengths of this team is wearing down the opposing pitcher to get the weaker pen so again yeah pitches seen is important to me. I could keep going but why argue over shit we have no control over. Post on.
Doc is making the line-up, should hit lower and I've said that in other posts but he's doing it consistently for some reason and who are we to argue.
problem is, no matter how you spin it, forsythe has been a huge disappointment as fsu pointed out he strikes out way too often for a non-power hitter and as rube added the bulk of his at bats (where he sucks) have been against rh pitchers if agon comes back healthy/productive logan should be the odd man out cody to left, taylor to 2b maybe against lhp you can move taylor to center and give forsythe a couple starts but starting him every day is stupid
Doc is making the line-up not me. Why is he in there everyday, I don't know the answer but Doc is doing it for some reason. Obviously not looking at the platoon splits. I didn't make those up. I think I've said Taylor to 2nd and Cody to left when A-Gon is in there. He shouldn't be in there against right handed pitchers I don't know how many times I have to write it!!! Huge disappointment thus far is a bit harsh but it isn't what was advertised that is for sure. Maybe putting this in bold will help sheesh lol.
Getting Logan was a good move. So far the prospects we lost are nothing to get worked up about. And I agree with everything you been saying 100% btw. I dont think Irish and some others get your point, or care to get it. They wont understand your point until they themselves decide to change their mind. And at that point your point wont matter anymore, because they will be making the same point for you. And it will be their point not yours. That is your lot for 1) being right and 2) understanding the whole picture, and 3) showing us all sides of the argument instead of being a crank yanker. Sucks to be you, but keep on fighting the good fight.
Remember when you were dead set that Bellinger should play exclusively 1B because 'stats'? We tried explaining this to you for a while, happy that you finally got it. If you want Logan out against RH hitters it means Bellinger must play the OF. I dont think Logan is a disappointment at all. He brings a very good bat against lefties, that will be very important in the playoffs for situational pinch hitting and platoons. And he is cheap, makes like 5M a year and is off the books in no time. Besides, he has hit righties before, never been awesome but not a total hack either like he is now. And look at the alternative second basemen we were looking at, all are sucking this season and would have been way way way more expensive than 5 to 6M bucks and always injured DeLeon.
i don't understand you you come out defending forsythe and then when someone fires back you pull the roberts is making the lineup card not me say what you think and stick to it
no one is right or wrong it's opinions nothing more, nothing less 20 hr last year, 3 so far hit .264 last year, currently .238 slugging down over 126 points like i said in an earlier post that's been/being ignored... he's had some better at bats lately so hopefully he's turned a corner but to argue that he hasn't been a disappointment so far is a bit absurd
apples and oranges bellinger playing the outfield has nothing to do with forsythe it's about adrian cody is slashing .297/.378/.703 when playing 1st and .207/.276/.430 in left and before you say small sample size, he's only 6 at bats shy of what logan has against left handers
Its not about sample size, I frankly do not think it matters how bad he has hit as a LF. I think its most likely an issue that will fix itself with MORE playing time in LF, not less. You are looking at the past and thinking that it foretells the future. You cannot look at the past and apply it in a literal fashion to the future, you must look at the past, learn the lessons, then apply it to your future if and when it makes sense with your present.
uh wut? never said nor implied literally but you're acting like the past should be ignored, selectively and how far into the past do you suggest we ignore? the past may not foretell the future entirely, but how else do you suggest we assess player's projections? the bottom line is this... cody has hit well while playing 1st base (his natural position), and not nearly as well when playing elsewhere but go ahead and repeat the same thing and expect a different result i think some guy named einstein had a take on that
