I get you with the length of contract but if I remember correctly that was not uncommon a practice to get multi years and with this teams money it wasn't exorbitant at the time. Hindsight of course being 20-20. He had a decent season in the AL but hey we can still get something out of him just thankfully not this year.

two years should have been the max for either guy
if somebody else wanted to offer more, they should have let them
you're right about hindsight, but to me the writing was on the wall -- especially on mccarthy who hadn't put together a good full season since 2012
and just because you have the money, doesn't mean you have to spend it...

Machado just won player of the month in the AL, leading the O´s back into that silly AL WC race, looks to be back to the Machado everybody knew. Initially I wanted LAD to splurge on Harper after next season, but then eventually Arenado moved into that spot for me and seemed like a better fit/buy since he could take over for JT after the 2019 season + also hurt the ROX by switching sides. But now, with Seager having had a down year defensively @ SS, and Keith Law´s dream seemingly coming true right before our very eyes, seems like Machado could be the best fit for LAD with his ability to play an above average SS defensively.

Could they eventually slide Taylor over to his natural SS spot in order to move Seager to 3B? Probably. And I love Taylor, but yeah, I think I´d rather have Machado @ SS and Taylor @ 2B instead. R Taylor 2B/ L Seager 3B/ R Turner 1B/ L Bellinger LF/ R Machado SS/ S Grandal C/ R Puig RF/ L Verdugo CF looks about right. White guys up front and Mexicans in the back. Fuck up and put Verdugo or Taylor on base and good luck getting through Seager/Turner/Bellinger/Machado unscathed

Need the bullpen vets like Pedro Baez to take him under his wing and show him how to be a big league failure.

Similar to his order @ Wendy´s
1 large Hi-C, 12 orders of large fry, 56 cheeseburgers, and a .143 chance that he won´t eat all of it in 1 sitting

I don't understand Joc at this point. It seems like he got to the show, and now doesn't really care anymore.

Anyone can tell the guy has gained weight, seems out of shape, and nothing is working for him, or he's just putting any advice into real practice.

Maybe he's thinking I don't really need this job. Guy from Palo Alto.....maybe he's already thinking different alternatives.

My only fear is the Dodgers let him go, he goes to the Gnats (near his hometown) and then becomes a HoF center fielder.

He looked like he was really enjoying himself this year so I don't know if he was just feeling like he wasn't doing any worse than Kike for instance. Perhaps it's the wake up call he needs although he didn't show it after the send down. We shall see.

    fuck joc
    idgaf about him
thought he was overrated from the beginning
    huge swing with huge holes
once the league learned to stop grooving fastballs he stopped hitting bombs
i think he felt entitled and no longer had to work
some guys are like that... they set a goal and, once they reach it, stop working/improving
sending him down was the right thing
bringing him back up after hitting .143 sends the wrong message imo
now joc probably thinks "they still need me"
should start him in aaa next year

The Red Sox have admitted that they used electronic communication to steal opponents' signs and relay them to Boston players during games, according to the New York Times.

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman filed a complaint with Major League Baseball last month. He supplied video of what the team contended was a Red Sox trainer looking at his Apple Watch and then relaying information to players -- in one instance outfielder Brock Holt and in another infielder Dustin Pedroia -- during a series between the teams in Boston.

Lol Makes me wonder about all the ideas concerning an electronic strike zone taking the place of umps.
Wonder if teams would employ hackers to help with the strike zone Hahahaha wouldn't that be fun
New official category, MLB teams that employ the best hackers

    Belichick out there inspiring underhandedness
It all started on the basketball court though with Red Auerbach's cheating ass, sweating the opposition out of the Garden
