To answer the question, no Frias is not an answer in the rotation. He pretty much only throws one pitch and second time through the order he's going to continually get racked. He's made for the bullpen unless he magically learns another pitch. I don't want to see him get many more starts.

what do Joc, Guerrero, Grandal, Puig, AGon, SVS, Ethier, Kendrick, and Turner have in common?

all have higher OBPs than Kemp.

You're probably right about Frias...he is a one trick pony, as Orel mentioned. But in our situation, with really only three possibles to take the mound guys to depend on (and keeping fingers crossed with Anderson every time he goes out), what else can they do?
I think he'll get at least a few more starts. Ryu news doesn't look to fortifying or hopeful lately.
I also think if someone else was ready, they'd at least give them a start...maybe it's yet to be, IDK. But I believe DBB looks at Frias as a 5 inning guy, and that's all he expects. I guess he figures after CK and then Zach, the BP should be pretty rested, and can bail out Frias. But who knows what is in DBB's head?
I see some kinda pitching move in the near wings. Almost gotta happen if they aren't looking down to the minors for help.

I was wondering the same thing as MZA and was surprised to see that

    http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/la/history/single_game_batting_records.jsp

has Hodges listed with 9 in Brooklyn but it lists Cey with 8 in LA

    ...a little disrespect for Loney?

3 - 0 with a sub 3.00 ERA is worth taking a chance on unless you want another Scott Baker type coming up again.

Frias is better than Anderson. And he could be even better if he mixed in more offspeed pitches every to keep hitters honest.

He's not? What stats are you basing this on? Frias has a lower ERA, FIP and WHIP?

I know Carlos is Mexican, but we don't allow racial slurs in our clubhouse.

Oh, the small sample size argument. I guess then we shouldn't factor in Anderson's last two starts (his best two) because that too is a small sample size. Frias will prove to be better than Anderson. He has better upside. All he needs is for Honeycutt to teach him a better offspeed pitch and he could become dominant.

No, I was just giving my opinion. Anderson has pitched extremely well in his past two outings, but I think that was more smoke and mirrors. I could be wrong, and believe me I hope I am.

I could be wrong, but I'm thinking maybe his latest start might spark him somewhat. His next 2-3 starts could be telling.
