Sure, I was excited , too. Everybody who roots for a team like the LAD, a team ahead by 8 1/2 games at one point, then collapses to what we are now, although not panicky bad, wants to improve with new players. Obviously something negative is going on. So blame it on Kemp being hurt, overall injuries, hemmoroids, Ethier's malaise, Loney of course, whatever...when you shut down offensively against the last place team, concern is a factor. Twenty three years of oblivion is a cruel mistress, IMO anyway. Doing really well against the odds and predictions for part of the season isn't Nirvana for me; it's time we put a winner together. Definitely. Time. I really don't know if "chemistry" (or not having it or whatever) is the problem. It just could be that the players that were signed are just what they were before we signed them...almost exactly. No miracles. No Manny from heaven. Sure they'll get hits-even win games--they already have. But were they what we needed exactly? IDK. Did Ned think they were going to come here and be catapulted back in time? I hope they are. When Ned signed Pierre for example, and everybody jumped all over the guy because we still sucked, varaiably. And the guy did the same thing he always did, and did it damn well. I guess we (and Ned?) thought he was going to turn into a HR hitter....and all of a sudden have Mondesi's arm out there? It seems we are always a bat away. Away from what, IDK either. Maybe you're right...we need to play better teams. I guess we'll find out pretty soon if you are. I hope so.
Sweet. You can join your son who died of "cancer." What a reunion. Wait, is Tommy considered untouchable? Oh well.
As much as Tommy is loved as a Dodger, he unfortunately is somewhat of an evil human being sometimes. And I try to block his demons out.
He did everything but disown his son (or did he? I don't know) for being gay and it's not hard finding footage of him being an asshole to people. Perhaps evil is harsh but god he's no Vin! Tommy is the greatest motivator there is. But he's a pretty mean man lol. I prefer to just forget about that though.
Dodgers' TV Rights Could Be Worth $8 Billion http://mlb.sbnation.com/2012/8/9/3230431/los-angeles-dodgers-tv-rights-eight-billion-dollars
His Son died of complications from aids. He was a bender and Tommy disowned him, and to this very day claims he died of cancer. According to something I read about four years ago anyway. I could be waaaaaaaaaaay of base, apologies if I am.
Well documented. Had a gay Dodger player traded to Oakland because he was dating his son. Made gay slurs and gestures in the clubhouse and Reggie Smith said his favorite word was "faggot". He estranged from his son and refuses to acknowledge his son died from aids.
Tommy is from a totally different generation so it's no surprise to me that he would be in denial, it's no excuse but it's not that unusual.
Well yeah, it's an amazing word. He said it became his favorite word after his son was openly gay though...so.... In any case, we don't know the guy he is now and whatever.
Straight people are to blame for gay people because there wouldn't be any gay people without straight people making them. I don't understand the big deal some people have with gays.
Some people just cannot handle another person being different from them, eh what can you do some prejudices are ingrained.
My Dad always used to say "Never hate a bender son, because every cornhole they're packing is one more woman for you." So much truth.
