This is a whole new ball game evolving and Guggenheim has special rights that other teams don't. Spending money on players can pay off in multiple ways because of the nature of the Guggenheim business model. Their tax lawyers are probably working 24/7 thinking up applications of existing tax law and how to create new precedents. His accountants are still working 24/7 trying to figure out ways to make money. Dang their spending money on players is probably more cost efficent than any other team.
Fuck regional. Take this shit international! Get the rest of the U.S hooked on Dodgers. Get the network over seas! The Dodgers need to return to that national/international brand!
With time they will, just as Manchester United is trying to push their brand here. Was fascinating watching and listening to their IPO today and then doing some followup research. http://money.cnn.com/2012/08/09/investing/manchester-united-ipo/index.htm
Hamilton is too much of a risk and not the best marketing tool considering his substance abuse problems. Not exactly a Chinese role model. International marketing could be a problem for some elite players.
He's actually a great marketing tool. His drug issues make him "interesting". As far as risk, no team is going to sign him without a relapse clause and regular drug testing, and Hamilton believes in himself too much to fight against that - I get the sense that he would actually prefer something like that in his contract.
First of all m I was thinking in China and I am not sure his interesting is what mom and dad would want their kids to find interesting. I don't follow the Rangers but how much in marketing dollars is he making now?
This link is 2008 and spoke of his lack of marketing appeal but potential for the future if he could stay clean which he hasn't. Do parents want a message that you can keep relapsing and still be accepted?
Hadn't thought of that angle. Tsingtao: The beer of Champions endorsed by Josh Hamilton. Just might work
http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire...a-top-10-most-marketable-players-in-baseball/ For the record, his last "relapse" was when he went to a bar, had 4 drinks, and he held a press conference less than 12 hours later. Honestly, his problems make him human and more interesting than someone like... say... Mark Teixiera. If When we sign him there will be Dwight-Howardesque enthusiasm.
Not that we are concerned about money but imho the Dodgers are going to re-sign the flying Hawaiian and not Josh.
moving Shane to CF, Kemp to RF and Ethier to LF this offseason would greatly improve our already good OF defense. not many teams can boast three GG OF's...
I think I was talking about this with VRP one time earlier, but what about the idea of a network where we could stream things online or on smartphones? That would be so sick and I'm sure the technology is easily there. I'd bet MLB hemseles wouldn't want it cause it'd take away from there MlBTv market but I wonder if it's a possibility. That'd be sick :O you can advertise in commercials just as always
