We are now in a roster management time point. Great move so far as we have kept Abreu and Gwynn available for September callups. We are now building a roster for the September stretch. Uribe could have a role then. Not sure who the other players you want cut are as any possible replacements in AAA seem not to have done that well when called up and are still available for Sept callup and any players cut might not be. Other wise we have to ask if Kasten should be building a roster for the home stretch or building a roster to make fans feel better for what ever reason.
Now that I think about it: I overheard that Sam Murphy, peanut vendor in section 318-322, is thinking about moving his family to Scottsdale in a few weeks. What with school starting and all, it could be hard to find a replacement on short notice. So good move.
Even though he is playing well and deserves to stay up Cruz could be sent down for three weeks and recalled in September if not sooner when Kenned comes off the DL. This way they can keep Uribe and have him available September and the post season. By doing this the enter September with all three players. Not saying they should do it but if roster management is a major concern for them they might. Also Uribe is expensive and owed big bucks for next year. By holding on to him we can bring him to Spring Training next year and reevaluate before letting him go. With us paying his salary he could and probably would be picked up by anyone willing to take a chance on a freebie. Just like Andru Jones and other players let go by us and other teams. We still need a third baseman and have to hope we can get one in the off season but the pickings are slim.
Does anyone remember Tommy's response to the report that alcoholism is a "disease"??? Not only was it a rant of the ages, it was hilarious yet sad, all at the same time. Tommy dealt with his son being gay the only way he knew how...not saying it was OK or anything, but his generation and area growing up would cultivate that non-acceptance...it's not surprising. " We can't all be Cher"-----Tommy LaSorda.
i remember being a kid and my family going to san francisco. it was culture shock enough just driving into town. but we went to dinner that night and after walked to an ice cream parlor. the waiter was acting strange for the seven year old boy that i was and when he asked my dad if he wanted whipped cream he lost it. just fell back against his seat with tears running down his face saying yes yes i'll have the "whipped cream on top". the old guys just could never accept that it was a genetic thing. in their minds gay people had a choice in the orientation. and who would choose dick? that would have been especially hard on a father. not making excuses for tommy but being a man back then it would have been awfully hard to deal with it. let alone live it in the public eye.
:fuckoff: <- That is gonna be us to the rest of the NL in a few years. With any one of those deals. Anybody remember how about 2 years ago McCourt had a $1.8M deal with Fox and he went on Mason and Ireland talking it up like it was the greatest thhing ever. Thank you, Bud Selig. It's gonna be one hell of an off-season guys.
You're probably 100% right. Think we'll get to the WS by then? I mean actually there. In it. The October Classic?
Great, Irish. Rickles is non-stop hilarious. That was entertaining. The bit with Guerrero was classic. I'd love him to do something like that now....with Uribe, Harang, Dee, Treanor and of course, Ned. Now that would be something.
Well, Yankees and Red Sox have deals such as these, are perennial contenders (usually, in the case of Boston). Texas has the largest current non-private network deal, back-to-back WS, what do you think?
Yup and option 3 (own regional network) is part of the reason why I started a thread on why they purchased the team. Unlike other bidders and other team owners they are selling a consumer product that most of us need and buy. That being insurance. Imagine free advertising for their insurance products hawked by Dodger stars.
It makes a ton of sense to go that route, and just jump on with the lakers network. However, if the worst-case scenario is a new $4.5B deal with Fox (1.5 times the deal the A-Holes got mind you), then we can't really complain.
I'm down for it...if that what it takes to get there, then yeah, baby. Maybe that's the magic ingredient...the "one bat away" we are missing...TV! I'll still have to do the package, but cool for you guys out there. If the money flows To the WS we goes And if it don't get spent We'll stay low rent
