Morton scares me more than any of their starters.

yeah I can’t see our offense hitting his curveball but hopefully it doesn’t matter and at least we have Buehler (presumably) lined up against him

it's those 2017 flashbacks. Also he is their best starter.

Betts could give our guys some pointers on Tampa pitchers with his experience at Boston

Not the largest of sample sizes but some solid numbers...

    Vs Snell: 7-23 1 HR, 2 doubles
    Vs Morton: 6-20 2 doubles
    Vs Glasnow: 3-9 1 double
Vs Diego Castillo: 2-7 2 HRs.

The Dodgers announced Kershaw as the starter for Game 1, and Buehler as the starter for Game 3.

No one announced for Game 2 yet, but May seems best lined up after only throwing 18 pitches on Sunday. Whether he starts or is used with an opener, I’d expect him to get the “bulk” of the innings, which I put in quotes because I think bulk only means about 3 innings in this case. And that’s if he shows better command than he did his last 2 outings.

    Like it.

Would like to see a little extra base pop out of Mookie in the Series.

I don’t think he had any extra base hits in the last two series, which wow.

    Some Rays roster news:

they dropped Jose Alvarado (I guess his complete lack of command doomed him) and added Ryan Sherriff. Sherriff has very little MLB experience but he seems to have great success against lefties (career .289 OPS against lefties) doesn’t K any one though

so they have plenty of lefties who are typical (and successful) LOOGYs. Gonna be interesting how our lefties respond

and our L/R lineups gonna lead to decisions on Both sides with the 3 batter minimum rule

Couple more notes on their relievers, who are good...
Shane McClanahan is another young lefty who doesn’t have a ton of experience but throws 100 from the left side. Not used in high leverage yet. Aaron Loup, again, is prob their most used lefty and has actually this year put together his best year by being good enough against righties

nick anderson is their best reliever and arguably the best over last two years but he struggled in last series; velocity and k rates down. Fairbanks and Castillo are their best relievers in terms of stuff, recent success, and command. Right handers who are tough

with more off days I expect them to use some starters out of the pen though

13 pitchers for Rays got me thinking they’re gonna lean heavily on the same guys (they have a core of like 6 pitchers to lean on) and more than likely use starters out of the pen

Not surprising. The most likely move was probably dropping a pitcher for Gore, but with a bullpen heavy game lined up for Game 2 and our two best starters with injury issues, they didn't overthink it. Like I said before, with a 15-man pitching staff and off days back in the schedule, we will have plenty of gas in the pen. The 28-man postseason roster has worked in our favor this year.

Also, less need for a third catcher in this series because we can add Ruiz as an injury replacement if needed, without worrying about losing someone for the next series.

    from ESPN...
    • The Rays' offensive struggles aside from Randy Arozarena are a big concern, as is their swing-and-miss game (they led the majors in strikeouts). Also, Tampa Bay's top relievers are all right-handed, which worked against the righty-heavy Yankees and Astros lineups, but with four lefty hitters the Dodgers will be more difficult to shut down in the late innings.
