I know Puig hit a HR, but I still have very little hope for him. He just looks awkward up there. Of course he'll run into one once in a while. He's a major leaguer.

But he used to look comfortable in the box, great plate coverage, pathway to the ball and follow through. Now he's always pulling the ball and finishing with two hands. Can't hit anything other than middle in.

    He looks like crap.

Love his defense. Couldn't care less about his attitude or antics. Just want him to hit. I don't see it. Sad, really. Puig being good offensively would solve so many problems for us as a RH bat.

    that's even worse
should be driving that pitch to right center
like tb said, he'll run into one periodically
    but more often than not...
trying to pull that pitch will result in a weak rollover grounder to short

I'll agree Puig's setup/approach still looks weird but I think he can still OPS .750 or more while doing damage vs LHP and with his defense that's still our starting RF

    Alex Verdugo: RF, 2018.
    Yasiel Puig: somewhere else.
Mariners have made 1K trades this off-season and not one of them for Puig.
    Fuck.

Was at 13 pitches without recording an out, then was out of the innings at 16 pitches. Command may always be an issue, but his stuff is dirty.

Agreed, but he is an .850+ OPSer if he would go back to using the whole field. That HR was nice and all, but fuck dude, for everyone of those pitches he hits out, he's going to roll over the top or swing through another 50 if he keeps that up. When he came up he would let that pitch get deep and then he would hit it hard into the gap(or shit he'd hit it out to right). It is like he doesn't realize that becoming a pull hitter has been his largest detractor the past two seasons. The club is saying that he is still working through some things and that is why he has not looked comfortable yet, understandable, but he is still flailing at pitches away that he used to drive. I am and have been one of his ardent supporters ever since the day he dropped a 515+ foot BP HR in my lap. That insane strength, paired with his talents and mindset from when he first came up should lead to him being a year-in-year-out MVP candidate, but he's too fucking stupid to put it together yet on the field. Puig is the ultimate conundrum, with him as is we are a WS contender, with what he can be we are a WS favorite, trade him now and the only thing you are getting are meh prospects and ultimately a front row seat of watching this dude become a superstar with someone else. For the sake of all that is holy, PUT IT TOGETHER DUDE

Ryu to start Friday, this 10 man rotation is going to be a hell of a thing to watch. Bah, this has been updated, he will throw either on the backfield or in relief. My guess is this, they are going to avoid bringing him into a game until his velocity takes another tick up. He is still working 86-88 with the fastball.

It seems in some cases baseball aptitude can't be taught.

Agree...It can't. But can the LAD hitting coaches be totally free of guilt here? I mean, they were all there during and when this big inept mediocrity inducing change came about weren't they? Maybe Mac messed his head/swing/approach up...Or someone else. As Vinny used to say, he was the "wild horse" wasn't he? It's not like your dealing with Stephen Hawking brain here...Maybe they tried to fine tune him, instead of leaving alone with what he brought to the dance originally. Who really knows?
I can't see initiating criticizing on the dude for hitting a blast in ST, though. And recalling how many outs he will make for every HR he hits. Wtf kind of criteria is that?
Seager was ROY and had a good amount of HRs didn't he...How many outs did he make? But he's liked, so-o-o....
It amazes me how slick the FO is in most everyone's mind, yet no one seems to question them on the fact that Puig remains on the team.. why? And the MOY has publicly stated he will be in RF.
Guess it's all some kind of reverse propaganda thing....

Didn't mean to get your ire up...Just joking.
I remember I gave my mechanic some mint Japanese robots that I bought a while ago when I collected such things...Because he had kids the age that would be interested in such things. I thought. He did me a favor with my car, and I thought I would show my appreciation.
A few days later, I went to the thrift shop as I do looking for whatever, and there they were, still in the box.
They weren't " electronically up to date", I imagine. The mother brought them, I found out.
I felt like shit over it.
    No good deed goes unpunished.

Pitching is getting moved around again. McCarthy and Urias are going Friday while Ryu is going Saturday now.
