I seriously doubt there was anything pre-conceived here. Bottom line is by taking the QO he got more than a 50% raise (who wouldn't take that?) AND he's still young enough to negotiate a long term deal if he has a succesful season. I see it as a no-risk position on his part, and he was smart to take advantage of it. He MIGHT have gotten a 2/$22 or 3/~$30 as a FA, but that was about the ceiling. Now he has the opportunity to improve that future deal if healthy/succesful, while getting paid nicely in the attempt.

I know it's gonna start a lot of side stuff about it but, that really sucks. Thankfully the Dodgers only have a 1 year commitment to the guy but really felt like he'd build on last year and be better this year. The injury seems to be semi-random but as is baseball. Hopefully this gives opportunity for someone in the minors (Bolsinger, Beachy, Lee, De Leon) to step up big

But so far, injuries have bitten Montas and Anderson, with Ryu and McCarthy taking it slow. Optimistic side is that reinforcements will come in the middle of the season, pessimistic side is that the first months might be hard and who knows how much to expect of the injured players

Not gonna lose any sleep over Anderson, truth be told, Mike Bolsinger had nearly identical peripherals, while missing a lot more bats.

Wood firmly in play now, hopefully he steps up into the 4 spot and is solid.

Given Kazmir and Maeda's injury concerns, might not be long before Wood is the #3...

Not likely. Bolsinger will probably fill that spot, but maybe we'll luck out and JDL will get a legit shot because he can make about 26 or 27 starts, going from 114 to 160 innings. Luis Severino did that last year.

Tuborg hit it outta the park on this one.... Anderson had to know what he was doing.

Now the NERDS can do what they do best. Bamboozle Walter and pat themselves on the back for being so fucking smart then spend the rest of the year trying to replace what they already had like last year when they had Haren and paid him to pitch elsewhere. Greinke's salary doesn't seem so far fetched anymore since 15.8MM is being WASTED on this fucker now, does it? We have to resort to HOPING someone will emerge instead of keeping a sure thing.

It'll take a couple more years and some empty seats before Walter gets sick of this shit, I'm afraid.

Making Mexico pay for the wall is not as difficult or complicated as some make it out to be.

This is how the wall conversation between President Trump President Mexico could very easily go:

President Trump: Mr President I need a check from your country for 15 million to build a wall between our countries
President of Mexico: Trump go F yourself

President Trump: Ok now the wall is three feet taller and you owe me 20 million by March 1
President Mexico: President Trump go F yourself

President Trump: Here is your final choice if I don't have the check by March 1 I will deduct 50 million from the 400 million plus we give you annually in military and economic aid and use it to build the wall and pay for the security to patrol it. The debate will be whether you really paid for it or not. However the reality is your sorry ass will have cost your people 50 million and that will be 50 million less you have to deal with the immigrants from your South who can't cross over. You decide.
