That was in the neighborhood for offseason predictions. Would not be shocked if he doesn’t do better than this.

I mean, if he really did turn down a 4/64 offer, he must have some reason to believe he can do better. That much for a player who hasn’t shown the stamina to finish a season strong? The good news for Grandal is, any team throwing around that much money for him isn’t going to be in the playoffs anytime soon.

At the time that he turned it down, there were a lot more teams out there looking for a catcher. I think the teams willing to spend for his services has greatly diminished and him getting such a strong offer off the bat, may have inflated his and his agents perception of the market. I could definitely be wrong and there could be a team out there willing to go bigger or longer, it just feels like there aren't as many options left.

Not sure I buy the stamina reasoning. He goes through prolonged in season slumps, too.

Something to watch over the next 4-5 days is I believe that Kikuchi needs to come to a decision. The Dodgers are said to be pursuing him fairly hard, though the M’s and Pad’s seem to be making the most effort. I would be curious to see if in the event the Dodgers are the team he picks, if they’d ask for him to keep quiet for an extra day or two so that they could trade Rich Hill. He’s next in line if the Dodgers were to land a pitcher and his $16M AAV should be moveable based on his production.

According to Jorge Castillo of the L.A. Times, the Dodgers reached out to the Tigers about outfielder Nick Castellanos, but the initial asking price was Keibert Ruiz or Alex Verdugo...

    • “I’ve been constantly reminded of [the Hanley HBP],” Kelly said. “It was a fastball that got away, and it didn’t look good. He was the best player in the playoffs at that time. But when we became teammates [in Boston], we had a big man hug and there were no hard feelings. I hope Dodgers fans are able to forgive me when we win the World Series this year.”
wondering if kelly momentarily forget which team he signed with:duck:

    • According to NBC Sports’ Michael Duarte, the Dodgers have expressed interest in FA reliever Kelvin Herrera, have continued interest in Tigers outfielder Nick Castellanos (who could be a part of another trade either for Kluber or Realmuto), and have checked back in with the Pirates on catcher Francisco Cervelli.

We are back to that situation where everyone asks for our top prospects in every fucking deal just like it was a couple of seasons ago with Seager and Urias. We had like 2 seasons where people loved our depth, now we are back to teams being wary of anyone outside of our top two based on the track record of the guys that we have traded away. Fucking annoying, but at the same time it is understandable. We need like one dude to do decently/come close to expectations, which has just not happened yet.

Herrera and Kelly would be a great offseason for the bullpen. Pair it with maybe an improved Jansen and if Baez is anything close to last season, they'd be looking mighty tough with the other parts that they have coming back. Feel like Herrera is gonna get a larger 1 yr deal even with his struggles/injury last year which could take us out of it. Who knows, but the dude is worth the risk.

I feel like we should be all over any 1 year deal, hit it up with incentives, and we're cooking. Herrera was pretty lights out until he got to Washington, then he tumbled and got hurt.
