Twins are adding some pop this offseason, but their defense is probably going to rival the Phillies from last season. A lot of big slow dudes on that roster now that aren't exactly known for their defensive prowess. Not to mention, someone online pointed out that they are RHH heavy in a division where the best team has a rotation of 5 good to great RH starters. Good for the Twins trying to improve, but the way they are doing it is a bit skeptical.

What’s the market for Adam Ottavino ? That dirty slide piece would play well in our bullpen.

Yanks and White Sox are said to be the two teams that are pursuing him the hardest with the Rockies still kicking around too. We had interest early, but that may have dried up now that we have signed Kelly.

    totally agree
wouldn't push them anywhere near the top
and he's not a "marquee" name that would sell more tickets
but preller is a fucken tool so who knows
wouldn't be surprised if he were doing it solely to drive up kuber's price tag

    • Fancred's Jon Heyman tweets that infielder/outfielder Josh Harrison has current interest from the Nationals, Reds, Rangers, Giants and Brewers, and he could ultimately generate interest from teams like the Yankees, Phillies and Dodgers — depending on how their pursuits of the market’s top free agents pans out.

Anthony Castrovince covers the Reds and Indians for MLB.com, but mostly covers the Cleveland club. He said at the start that the Indians would only move Kluber or Bauer if it was a last resort type of thing, but the goal was to find other avenues to clear payroll. He now came out today and said that his "VERY CREDIBLE" source within the Indians organization is telling him that there is now little to no chance that they move Kluber(Bauer has been out of the convo for a while now). He is saying that teams are still calling, but what he is being told is that someone is going to have to shoot the moon to get them to move Kluber at this point. They think they have upgraded the lineup enough to be dangerous enough with the rotation that they have. They would need an impact bat to be swayed at this point and teams may be reluctant to offer that in a deal.

yeah seems weird they would unload kluber after re-upping carrasco
bauer on the other hand is a prick... but they would probably still want an unreasonable return for him
if we're going to overpay [unlikely], make it for someone like thor instead

It will be an interesting January, unloading Wood, Puig and (to a lesser extent) Kemp, makes no sense when they were already projected to be under the tax threshold, at this point all they've done is hamper the depth considerably. Gotta be something else coming, maybe more than one if the first is a trade that involved an OF.

Okay, Mike. You put Grandal in the 5 slot in October and tell me how that works out for you.
For a team that just wants to net 3 wins from the catcher position and hide him in the 8 slot for 4.5/6 months, fine. But for a team trying to win a WS, nah.

Whoever has left or been traded, or retired, or gone for whatever reasons, does anyone doubt that right now at this status quo, this team is nowhere near last year's team ?
Has to be more to come.

idk man, its not like kemp and puig were going to give us anything beyond this year
and as much as i loved pig i think its time for verdugo and toles to step in
kelly is a nice strong addition to the back of the pen
and w buehler, urias and ryu hopefully coming back for good years i'm not all that worried
i want to get better no question but these young guys are what i want to see now

Agreed with Petriello. Grandal on a one year deal would be great. He’s good for 4-5 wins and would not cost any prospects. He’s very streaky with the bat but his framing skills are legit.

I’m with Sauce. I’d take Grandal over losing a prospect package for Realmuto. If we go with Grandal hopefully we learn from the past and manage his usage. My plan, if we sign Grandal, would be 50/50 usage with Barnes

    Et tu devil???

Todd Boehly and the GuGGs fund members love this kinda stuff! As for the fans of LA including YOU, the devil I know and love, who face more price increases and will be paying $50 (just to park) if they want to see a game??? Not so much. GuGGs is treating our beloved team like the Koreans who buy a successful restaurant then kill it by cheapening the menu til no one shows up. I've bailed some of my favorite restaurants and my tolerance level for their fuckery is getting short. TWC made their fucking payroll free to them at almost double what it is now and even then, their investors threatened to revolt! If they don't sign Harper after trading away legit players just bc of money, that fucked up document that leaked is true and we won't be seeing shit in F/A for at least the next 3 years! Eat that! We could very possible be FU-HUCKED and saddled with shit unless these ass holes are forced to perform with their checkbook! LA leads the league in attendance and gets rat-fucked for it yet again. Fans will need to vote with our feet again like with McCourt. It worked. The deadline trades BZ spoke of were always going to be rentals and cheap compared to what those guys always cost the following year. THAT is why we lost in '17 when they opted for Darvish over Verlander and his ongoing contract. Last year, no one was going to beat Boston and Dave guaranteed it.

What will everyone say if Harper goes elsewhere and we find out some time next August they never even made a real offer that had a chance????? Rumors had us in on Corbin. Nope. Ottavino? Doubt it, too expensive. Kimbrel? Not even a conversation (good there but you get why I'm saying it). Kelly was cheap and thats why they signed him, even with the third year.

AF, PLEASE make me wrong and sign impact players rather than fall short again after over luckily achieving..... or FUCK OFF!

PS. I can't wait to piss on O'Malley's grave for starting this ongoing avalanche of bullshit and Mike (high faggotry) Piazza for tipping him over to sell!!!!!

I don't think you can gamble with a barnes grandal backstop.
I dont trust them in playoffs.
But grandal is a good gamble if you are for sure gonna bring in Smith to replace him down the stretch.

The moon for a Kluber that turns 33 in April?
..for a Kluber that had a near 13.oo ERA over 2 postseason starts in 2017, having given up 4 HRs in 6 innings?
..for a Kluber that just got lit up in the 2018 postseason in his lone start, having given up 3 HRs in 4 innings?
    Fuck alllllllllllllllllll of that.
    Not some of it.
    All of it.
Kluber's good, but it's not like he's the most ideal addition..his recent postseason performances combined with his initials (CK) damn near make him the older, right handed version of Kersh
