    I hate the whole concept of comp picks and the qualifying offer/old arbitration

    It's bogus that you lose a pick for signing a free agent.

    And, conversely, I think, that losing an historically great, proven pitcher to free agency, is somehow OK/equal for some kid who may turn out to be a big bust disappointment. As more often than not is the case.

    Yeah I've never thought keeping a 1st round pick should stop you from an elite pitcher. Especially when that first round pick is a late first rounder and you're getting comp picks

    The whole system is pretty much just a way to lower prices for free agents
