It should be written into contracts that if a player opts to play in any form of BB for the WBC (or whatever else deemed neccessary), if they are injured, they forfeit their pay until they are 100% ready to play on the ML club.
And that it is a standing policy that the club they are with does NOT condone or support, encourage or in any way want players in extra tournaments or anything, other than team ST games.
So what if the Dodgers don't have a player on any WBC teams? WhoTF cares anyway....this sort of injury can be just like a hamstring....never really heals. Can you imagine Ramirez with a worse/slower exchange throw over to first? Two months???
    Crank up Dee.

I mean this sounds pretty precautionary to me. I feel like people are over-exaggerating the 2-10 week pre-diagnosis. They don't even know if he's really that injured. I'm not saying he is completely fine, but fine enough to stay in the game and get a base hit. Hoping for what Chris said, mild sprain and can still make opening day.

Also, I can't really blame that WBC for this because that could've easily happened in camp. Just shows the bull shit luck the Dodgers have; and of course it had to happen in the very last game. Go figure.

I can't wait to see that Punto-Uribe-Hairston rotation at 3B. Sounds like a winner to me. And we'll see how long Hairston lasts playing every day because don't forget, he's the only one of the bench boys that can hit so he'll be rotating with Schumaker in LF when he's not playing 3B. Wow, Schumaker can play SS, so Cruz can go back to 3B sometimes. Think of all the possibilities. Donald is going to have fun with this - a different lineup every damn day. Shit, who needs stability in the field or in the lineup? Stability is over-rated. Maybe these utility supermen of Ned's can also catch some games and give poor AJ Ellis a fucking day off once in awhile? Maybe they can also put in some quality starts in the rotation, too. Those sore arms could use a breather after that grueling off season and brutal spring training. And if you bring in Crawford to play - as he is - well, hell, you could put Harang, Capuano or Lily in as a permanent cutoff man. Give up the 3B position altogether - and you have the brand new position of "thrower" who stands out in shallow LF. ...Okay, okay - I need to get a grip... it's way too early to be ranting like this.

Well that's worst case scenario. Which I think he would've been out of the game immediately if it was that bad.

Plenty of people who have significant injuries try to stick it out initially and then ....

    Hanley could miss two months
    Ken Gurnick

Results of Wednesday's MRI on starting shortstop Hanley Ramirez's right thumb are not expected until Thursday, but the club fears he could be out two months or more due to an injury suffered in Tuesday night's final of the World Baseball Classic.

Ramirez was hurt diving for a ground ball at third base, a position the Dodgers had hoped he wouldn't be playing during the tournament. Manager Don Mattingly said the Dodgers' medical department, after speaking to colleagues with Team Dominican Republic, speculated that a mild sprain could sideline Ramirez up to two weeks. But there are fears of a more serious injury that could sideline him up to 10 weeks.

"They've painted both pictures, and it's a pretty big window," said Mattingly. "We're guessing. They're going from a guy coming out of a big game, to a guy who also stayed in the game and had a single. Until the MRI, we're guessing. He could be feeling great, we don't know. We're concerned enough to get an MRI. He's coming out of a game, a pretty big game -- guys don't want to come out of those."

The Dodgers now have potential issues on the left side of the infield. Shortstop Dee Gordon, who figured to return to Triple-A Albuquerque with Ramirez starting, has a left ankle sprain that is considered mild, but he's missed two games.

On Wednesday, Mattingly took projected starting third baseman Luis Cruz and put him at shortstop, saying Cruz would be the initial alternative at short, with a rotation at third base involving the resurgent Juan Uribe, Nick Punto and Jerry Hairston. Cruz played shortstop for much of his career.

"And we're still sitting with Sells [Justin Sellers, although already optioned out] if it's something major. Punto played well [Tuesday at short]. We have a few different scenarios and we'll keep looking into it."

Sellers is the best pure defensive shortstop of the candidates and, based on Mattingly's comments, could get the nod if Ramirez opens the season on the disabled list. Sellers is coming off back surgery and was optioned to Minor League camp on Tuesday after an unlucky spring hampered by several minor injuries.
Mattingly said he watched the early part of the Classic finale, went to dinner and missed the injury, only to have his night ruined with a phone call from trainer Sue Falsone.

"With all the positives of the WBC, this is one of the negatives," he said. "You have the David Wright [injury] scenario, he's hurt, and Hanley's hurt. That's the downfall of it."

Fuck this fake goggle wearing cunt. I can see you, dickhead.

He has a bad reputation about not really caring and pleads the case that things are different with the Dodgers. A winter ball and WBC playing out-of-position really helps his cause. The guy is a fuckwit, runs with the surname. This guy should have spent a lot of time this offseason in Arizona working on D. Being to spring training first and setting an example for the team. And lastly, he should be at Dodger stadium working the fans like Luiz Cruz and Matt Kemp were on call. The guy is nothing to me. Hope he puts up good numbers (I doubt it, ex-PED boy IMO) but you won't see me wearing his shirt or gushing over him. Can't wait until Seager pushes this guy onto the bench and he Martin's his way around the league.

He did arrive early for camp and the stage may be set for him to play third for us. Which makes sense if the Dodgers think Dee is within striking distance of being major league ready at some point during the season and or that defensively we are better off with Cruz at short. That stage is being set and events seem to be taking it that way. Down the road we might look back in hindsight and determine that all of this while a short term problem helped things in the long term.

Why do we have to use the scrub patrol at 3B. what about Dee Gordon at SS, and Cruz at 3B? I guess I'm missing something here....a huge chunk of LAD "logic". WTF good is Dee at all then, if you have to use Cruz glove at ss, when you already have Gordon ready to take over? Quite honestly, as far as defense, I don't see Ramirez a big improvement over Dee anyway...the offense doesn't come into play, since there is no asshole Hanley available anyway. If Dee needs a sit down, then use Punto or make the IF scrambled eggs they so want to fry up it seems.
I swear to God, the Dodgers can make a bad situation worse by complicating everything fucking thing that happens with their stupid Ned-induced BS.
And it's true, the catching position has been all but ignored since the emergence of AJ. You think they could have a reasonable back up by now, but they'll wear this poor bastard down to a nub by late August.

    Awesome.

Can't wait to see Uribe get a significant amount of playing time at 3B!
