Yes. I'd make you guys watch to enhance the depression of losing Kershaw and me getting action from Watson
On a serious note: This is yet another example of how stupid it is to try to "tough it out" and play through injury (Hanley remained in the game after landing on his thumb). It's stupid and although fans love to say their player is tough or wtv, it adds way more negatives than positives.
So opening day, do we see Cruz at SS and Uribe/Hairston at 3B? Or do we see Dee at SS and Cruz at 3B?
That's a good call. It seems like he's not really into playing this season unless it's with the Reds though.
Hanley needs to learn how to dive. What horrible mechanics he has. You're trying to dive for a ball, completely fail as always because you dive like 2 inches, and you brace yourself with your hands? Who taught you baseball you cunt? Dip shit. Don't even come back you whore.
Hanley Ramirez has thumb surgery Friday By David Brown | Big League Stew – 1 hour 26 minutes ago Email Recommend Tweet 11 (AP)Slugger Hanley Ramirez needs surgery to repair a right thumb injury, and he will be lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers for eight weeks, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday. Ramirez suffered the injury diving for a ground ball in the championship game of the World Baseball Classic at San Francisco on Tuesday. Ramirez reportedly had an MRI back in Arizona on Wednesday night. Surgery happens Friday. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports had the scoop on the surgery, which will fix a torn ligament. Dee Gordon is the top backup at short, even though he has been nursing a slightly sprained ankle. The roster also includes Jerry Hairston, Nick Punto, Skip Schumaker and Juan Uribe as backup infielders. All but Schumaker have varying experience and ability at short. Ramirez also was the backup for Luis Cruz at third base. The team reportedly had been unhappy that Ramirez wasn't playing shortstop for the Dominican Republic in the WBC, but it's the sort of injury that could happen anywhere in the infield. The good news: During rehab, Ramirez will be able to get plenty of reps at short before coming back. It's just one of those injuries the Dodgers will have to weather. There's no emergency replacement to buy or trade for. Gordon has seven stolen bases in Cactus League play so far, in case you're looking for a fantasy baseball angle. The Dodgers have gotten other good news recently: Right-hander Zack Greinke says he is over discomfort in his right elbow. And rookie Cuban curiosity Yasiel Puig continues to kill the ball. This is the third significant injury recently for a top infielder in the NL. David Wright of the Mets pulled a rib muscle, also at the WBC, and Chase Headley of the Padres suffered a fractured thumb running the bases. Wright is hopeful to return opening day, but Headley is scheduled to miss up to six weeks.
Too bad Hanley doesn't have any OF skills (that we know of...) - then he and Crawford could just rotate in LF between surgeries and rehabs. We could also move on to rebuild the IF. It's a silly ass thought - but:
I thought that I'd read that Hanley knew he'd hurt himself enough to take himself out of the big game
Hairston hasn't had a solid year since 2008. And he's 36... You don't build your team around guys that age. I just don't see Dee making the cut hitting wise. He dropped from .304 to .228. That's a mean drop is production. Hitting .241 in spring ball isn't doing him any favors either. Cruz has looked better hitting .278 this spring and he seems to field well at both 3B and SS. and Punto has hit .292 this spring but played mostly 2B I think. but the infield wild card again becomes old fat Uribe since he's hit .368 this spring after hitting an abysmal .191 last year. .368 for old fat Uribe?? Go figure.
it would be ultra funny that Dee lost his job after a thumb injury and now he can reclaim it because of a thumb injury... still, my bets are that he blows this one too...
