Yeah I am hoping that he gets a lot of shit worked out. He is a big mother F to not pay attention to.
Dre sucks against lefties bt it's not ideal to replace him with Torri, I think our FO would see that. Dre sucks against lefties but he's one of the top hitters in MLB against righties which is far more important. I truly believe they are trying to persuade Torri to be a 4th OF who plays against every lefty
Torii would get ALOT of playing time. Filling in for Carl for the first month or so and when he gets back, he can still start a couple times a week vs LHP and when Dre or Carl get tired. Idk if he'd be worth 2 yrs at 20 mill. but like VRP said, why should we care if they don't? also this: @dylanohernandez Andre Ethier is not on the trading block, I'm told.
annnddd this: @dylanohernandez Would Torii Hunter sign to be a fourth outfielder? Hunter tells @MikeDiGiovanna: "That would be tough. I'm not ready for that."
I really hope Torii realizes he will still get a lot of playing time, even if he's considered the "4th OFer." He'll play left while Crawford is out, and will likely alternate starting for one of Ethier or Crawford when a lefty starts. I feel like that's an ideal situation for a guy who's aging. I guess it's hard to just give up the possibility of starting every day, but if the paper is right...
I really like the idea of Hunter. Would be so nice to see Ethier sitting against top lefties in the league like Wade LeBlanc and Jamie Moyer who seem to own him every AB.
Do you want to be home with the kids? Do you want to hang out with your boy? Do you want a nice ring to go with a nice playoff run? The Dodgers have all that.
It is Youkalis who I really think makes little sense. His on base isn't immortal anymore, he won't hit for average, his power isn't gonna increase, he is always injured, and this ex Red Sox stuff is running its course. Let the left side of the infield figure itself out.
He'll cost less than Hunter and has an open position. Hunter would create an unnecessary logjam. Youk would let us use Cruz as a super-sub, which is probably a role he's better suited for.
It's not really one or the other for me. They can get Hunter if they want but I don't want Youk at all. The infield will figure itself out without an aging declining player, further solidifying the 2009 All Star team Dodgers. Let Cochito/Hanley/Gordon go into ST and see what happens.
