Seems our outfield has taken shape, with Puig and Kemp slated to play daily. Which leaves left field, who gets traded and why, if at all?
Thread is labelled Cardinals because I would love them both to go to fuck off to another team, although that is unrealistic. Joc against righties and soft tossing lefties so he can still develop, and SVS against tough lefties. We've seen both Ethier and Crawford's ceiling and are now watching a quick decline. Neither can hit lefties at all, neither seem to have any power, and Crawford speed is best described as ordinary. Both can fuck off, as far as I'm concerned. Eat their contracts and let them eat dick on the Astro's or something.
I think you gotta do what makes the team better. Dre is obviously better than Crawford, but if we can get something notable back for Ethier that will help the team (unlikely), then I can see why they'd trade Andre. If you can't get anything back for either than just trade Crawford for spects because he's the worst outfielder.
No faith in SVS to cover the position? Has showed speed and power so far this year. Not saying Andre as backup isn't a bad idea though.
I voted Ethier, not because he's the worst of the bunch, but because I think he's easiest/most likely to be traded. I would prefer to trade Crawford but I just don't think their is any slight realistic chance of that happening. Trade Ethier and bring up Joc next year and let him start, leaving Crawford as a 100M$ bench player?
Forgive defensive slips here and there. Finest pitchers plus deep lineup plus timely defense. start van slyke in left Bat Kemp at 2 slot and let him work in c.f.. Drop the Mexican guy to 5th to stretch the cleanup spot with 4 guys with speed in front. Then Uribe followed by Scott 7th. That leaves you a good catcher away from a perfect lineup of speed power skill and talent. Van slyke, Dee, Uribe, and even aj ellis are the kind of role players you need supporting the stars. And they aren't too shabby. Either can back up at all 3 of positions even 1b and be new super sub mascot. Crawford can pinch hit for pitchers and the like. Dee Matt Puig Hanley Adrian Juan Scott Ellis/olivo Pitcher Pitchers would get run support to win more often.
i know. i know, bro. but at some point they have to send a shit load of cash with Ethier/Crawford and deal them to clear the way for Joc. that may be a reason why they'll let Hanley walk at the end of the day and go younger @ SS as well
i wanted to trade eithier two years ago when he had value. i still think he does and someone would over pay w a decent prospect or two. but if his value is that far gone then keep him and punch out cc. lets face it we got him for milton bradley so we are playing w house money.
Crawford should go pretty much as soon as possible. I'd keep Ethier for 2014 and try to move he or Kemp this offseason.
whatever we do, we need to do it soon we're quickly falling back and we can't rely on another 42-8 run
Urethier was decent enough last year. Good obp and versatile in the field. Hit RHP. This season he sucks donkey chode. Crawford is just an overpaid POS
On behalf of the yankees I would like to offer taking both players and the $ to pay them, you can have arod in return. BRINKS TRUCKS OF MONEY BITCHES! Wasn't that your mantra after the team sale?
i don't think Ethier's ability to play center will mean much in the near future. that's Joc's place and even Gordon can play the position. there's absolutely no way the Dodgers can leave Joc in the minors next year. Ethier AND Crawford are on borrowed time and there's probably a decent chance that Hanley is too..as well as Kemp.
For a real dynasty, the team needs to get younger. Puig and Joc at their ages have the potential to be an outfield mainstay for years to come. Dee is on the right side of 30, and is finally showing great potential. Seager will hopefully move quickly through the ranks. Hanley, Kemp, Crawford, Ethier, Gonzo, Uribe, Ellis are all going to be problematic going forward, great time to push a couple out-the-door while they still have value. Move a couple again next year and we'll be on the right track, hopefully.
Why are Kemp, Hanley, agon, Uribe a problem Even Ellis is not a problem. Kemp will come around and be the lf. Hanley will move to 3b and continue to hit. Adrian can have a slow steady ride at 1b for long-time driving in runs. Uribe can be super sub all over if and at a decent price. Ellis is probably cheap for his career and decent catcher wit some obp skills and knows the young staff from days in minors. At worst a solid platoon or bencher. Plug young guys up the middle for defense C.f., ss, and a catcher is all we need. Joc play cf well enough in mlb? Rookie ss I know are coming soon also. We go buy a decent c to platoon with Ellis and team is set. Van slyke backs up corner of spots as well as adrian. Leaves Ethier and Crawford sad.
