Like? Idk, how about like not spending stupid amonts of money on the useless players he has this year. I didn't say a big move, but smart moves this offseason would be ideal for a guy about to be on the edge of a job that he will never, EVER get again.
Well, I wouldn't worry about this guy taking up space in our starting rotation because he's not going to last very long. He'll either get hammered out of the majors, or end up on the two year DL. Just another $10 million flushed by Ned.
Just because we can't go after big name FA doesn't mean you sign lame players for more they are worth. This has always been Ned's problem. His overvalue And undervalue of players. If you MUST sign capuano, you don't do it for 10 million. With what little money we have this is what you do with it? I hope he gets fired when the new owner comes on. Ned and Frank belong together.
Cannot judge signings in December. Stupid amounts of money get thrown around by EVERY team. Bottom line for me is that it's too early to tell. If Frank was guaranteed to be owner I'd be with you but he is out and I am optimistic about what can be done in season. For Ned, he'll get retreaded like most GM do.
So the Dodgers reinvented the wheel here and signed players for more than they are worth? Sorry to be an ass but about 10% of the players get what they are worth.
Last year we had more starters than we could use at one point and that lasted how long? Especially as you note with the age and medical history of a couple of them. However things could change rapidly. I have my fingers crossed.
Yes, you can. It's when you judge it, you sign and trade people on what there value is then... If Capuano becomes Roy Halladay or becomes Jason Schmidt, its what happens and yes, your signing looks lucky or very unlucky afterwards but you sign him based on what is a reasonable expectation for you: And that expectation is not 2 years 10 mil, point blank. And Ned signs people as if they are going to unrealistically bea lot better than they really are
But he does it every time. Look, if capuano does great by moving out here, fine. But Ned keeps on fucking handicapping us with these deals. If you're going to overpay someone they might as well be at or above average andnotthe fuckers he signs.
I honestly think I hate Ned more than Frank. At least Frank gave Ned some money to grab some players. He ends up getting Jason Schmidt, Juan Pierre, Andrew Jones, Juan Uribe and a slew of other piles of shit. A competent GM, this team looks alot different right now
Capuano got about what his going rate is. Have you guys been seeing the contracts this year? Ned got what he could with what he can spend. Granted he helped put himself in this situation because of idiotic moves as mentioned 1,000x. The problem is more related to the ownership situation and our middle of the country $100M payroll while our rivals up north are going into the $130M range. Ned and McCourt must go! Things will be better by the trade deadline....if we're not 20 games back that is.
im just hoping we can interview andrew friedman of the rays he interviewed with the angels and astros if he wants a new challenge, we're the perfect team imo
I could sign 10 hall of famers in the off-season but that don't mean squat in December. These aren't stocks that you can judge right away and say it was worth it or not. I agree the money is off but I don't pretend to know for sure what was negotiated or what offer they topped or even if he took a pay cut for this deal and you don't either. All I can say is players are overpaid for varied reasons and their performance is what will make the deal bad or worse and that won't happen in December.
Past injury problems (significant ones) ERA over 4 and a half Gives up a lot of HRs which was a huge problem for our staff last season...probably the biggest. 2 years....5 million each... Pathetic. I hope Ned dies
