Was hoping he would be up to start, maybe friday, but their would be no need to bring him up this early. Oh well....

My thoughts as well, which is why I am worried they are going to fuck with him. I guess they haven't announced that he has or will be activated today. They could be bringing him up to tag along with the team and then start him in CO Friday. If so, I shall be getting a ticket and hopefully it goes better than that time I got to see Carlos Frias start in Colorado *shudders*.

For those curious about Dennis Santana:
    AA this year: 8 GS, 38.2 IP, 26 H, 14 BB, 51 K, .183 BAA, 1.03 WHIP, 1.75 GO/AO, 2.56 ERA
    AAA this year: 2 GS, 11 IP, 10 H, 2 BB, 14 K, .238 BAA, 1.09 WHIP, 1.11 GO/AO, 2.45 ERA

    Some notes on Santana:
Santana is a converted SS who has really blossomed into an interesting prospect in the last 2 years or so, but really took off last season when he showed sustained flashes of a more promising repertoire of secondary pitches. Since those improvements came late in the season, but still needed to show more improvement this season, a lot of scouting folks held back from giving him top prospect billing. Though some said that if he showed that he could continue to build on what looked like the makings of a promising change up and work on his control a bit more, he had the potential to be a front line starting pitcher. Well this year Santana has delivered in a big way as he has located his power sinker in the zone and works in the mid 90's, touching the upper 90's. It has a ton of movement and I feel from some of my viewings that MiLB umps struggle with it at times. He also has had a tendency to leave it up in the zone, though it is such a tough pitch to hit, MiLB batters have been pretty overpowered by it and haven't punished him for it. His slider is also a plus pitch and can play well off his sinker, though I feel he primarily lives with the sinker. I see mixed messages about Santana with that sinker which some folks believe is close to a ++ pitch with the movement it possess. If starting doesn't workout, he has the ceiling of a top flight closer out of the pen.

The Dodgers are said to be trying Max Muncy out at 2B some in practice lately. Sometimes teams do this to give guys a different look, but this could be an interesting option with the way Muncy has continued to hit, matched with how fucking shitty Forsythe and Utley are at this point. Could also open up trade options as 1B are cheaper to acquire and one Jose Abreu is said to likely be available.

here's my take on this (whilst sitting on the fence)...
kids had/have it tough either way
the problem (as one of you alluded) is their lack of experience
and at that age/maturity/lack thereof there's no way they'll listen... they have to go through it, good or bad (like all of us once did)
apartment cost are absurd these days
    my one bedroom is $2,500/month
in my college years, my one bedroom was $425... and it was a nice place
now i would have loved to have had the internet and a laptop back then...
but makes me wonder if i ever would have gone outside and played sports if i had ps4/xbox et al
btw... can't remember the last time i saw kids out in the street playing ball ~smh

The good news is in terms of contenders, only the Rockies are a team that has a real need at 1B. Obviously that can change quickly, but the other contenders are pretty set at the position and DH as well. The real thing about Muncy potentially being able to handle 2B is that it just opens up a lot of options if he can continue to hit as it allows them to shop around at 1B and 3B as well.

    old man, sports evolve
who wants their kids out on the streets getting hit by assholes on the court who never made it and want to take it out on some kid?
your way, my way, all our old ways are over and that is good
new ways are better for the new kids on the block because everything evolves the way it needs to
just like you cant play basketball in old canvas converse all stars without splitting your foot
but in the 70's it was all chucks and short shorts.
if you wear those short shorts out at the park now not only will you get ridiculed you may actually get in trouble for indecent exposure
your one bedroom has evolved because it is telling you that you either should not live in a one bedroom or that you should not live in that town/lifestyle anymore

That is a great point about the XBox, PS4...but when they get out there in the dog eat dog world, the savagely competitive environment where not everyone gets a trophy or lapel pin for "participation", they simply ain't ready...too sheltered, no callous at all.
Maybe in that respect, living in that cyber world of imagery for so long before walking the walk, huh? is right.
    No worries.

tbh i think we’re all right
but you’re 100% right about the “participation” bullshit
how is one to endure failure/adversity when they’ve been coddled
same with pitch counts at a young age
    damn young finooks
