His numbers normalized this year when he started in the OF. They are better at 1B, but he still put up over .800 OPS in the OF so that may have been more coincidence than anything. I have heard a couple players talk about that once you start playing CF or MIF, it changes you at the plate. You start having a better understanding for the game and it helps you at the plate. Not saying that will be the case here, but as someone who does struggle for long stretches, it could help him understand situations and maybe help get out of those slumps sooner.
I don't want be a non-believer, but I saw the slight of hand they pulled with Belli later in the season to get those numbers up. He stopped playing CF everyday and they started mixing him in at 1B some and it felt like the offense bled over. However, for his sake and ours, I hope it was him just getting comfy. Either way, he works too hard to fizzle out. He'll figure it out. He's been doing some nice things against the shift
Zach Davies has replaced Gio Gonzalez. This takes a lefty out of their stable and he is replaced by someone who is not good. If I remember right, Davies is not a real hard throwing RH'er, which is something the Dodgers lefties have been known to feast on. I don't expect him to play unless there is an emergency.
I guess we will be facing having to win two in a row. After Kershaw gives up 9 runs today, and continues with his post season chokefuckery, we'll have to do it in Wisconsin. At least our tempest in a teapot offense will be rid of Miley. I guess. Unless we see him as a RP. Imagine if someone hit a HR, like in the old days...like two weeks ago. It's nice to reminisce...
today obviously another must win can't go to milwaukee needing to win two sending the brewers home with the same task is much more appealing
Here's an idea. Let's go out and acquire an established postseason clutch hitter, have him bat in the first inning, and then take him out of the game. Then let's do it again two more times. Counsel has to chuckle every time he sees that lineup. God please don't let it happen a fourth time today.
I’m honestly not disagreeing with the sentiment here but it is kinda funny that like it deserves frustration that we want 35 year old David freese to get more at bats. That’s how bad the offense has been: old David freese is seen as a huge difference maker. Again, not disagreeing and his results have been amazing but... lol
I'm not necessarily saying he needs more ABs, just would like to have him available to bat in the right situation... where he can be a difference maker.
Wouldn't mind if they moved Kersh out for Harper's money. Fucked up to say on the day that he pitches, but to hell with superstition on days he starts in the post. Shit doesn't even matter. Lol Been damning him all year long and we're still here, right? Consistency.
The Dodger's M.O. all season has been to struggle with RISP and have a number of consecutive low scoring games, then suddenly erupt with a 4-HR "save some for tomorrow" double-digit run explosion. They're due for one of those. I know MIL's pitching has been incredible, but seeing Miley again so soon should feel like the third or fourth time through the lineup, and their pen has to be fatigued. Also, day game in Chavez, before the dense air moves in. I'd love to see the big bats show today.
Today’s lineup, against a lefty, is wild: Bellinger CF Turner 3B Freese 1B Machado SS Muncy 2B Taylor LF Hernández RF Barnes C Kershaw P Bellinger leading off? Muncy now is ok to play 2B? Huh. Does shake things up I guess and you get Muncy AND freese in the lineup
Winning teams have an asshole attitude, with one or more of their guys leading the charge. The Dodgers have always been too "Gentlemanly" and hence, go home with broken ribs and no rings. Fuck having that Chad Billingsley pussification already. Hit TF back! Why did Yuri Gurriel walk out of the stadium erect? Win and make them hate us, while they lick their wounds and cry while their assholes heal!
This series is literally killing me. And the fact CK and his flameouts is up again in a critical game isn’t helping. The Brewers are licking their chops, so the offense cannot flail away. Just play smart.......please.
I guess Doc's trying to shake things up. Can Cody show the plate discipline that a leadoff hitter should have? As much as I don't like Freese starting, he does have good numbers vs Miley, and I think Counsel is expecting him to go more than just a couple innings today. Kike (0 for 6 vs Miley) over Puig (6 hits, 1 HR vs Miley) is a little perplexing. Kemp, Puig, Dozier, and Grandal are your pinch hitters. Hmmm... this is gonna be interesting.
