What's the expectation for Urias this season in terms of innings and role with the big club?

Talk is that he could start the year in extended Spring Training before the call up to the bigs. Farhan the other night said he blew away their innings limit for him and that they may want to take it easier on him as he did wear down at the end(His velocity nose dived). Everyone assumed the goal was 115-120 innings maybe after coming off of back to back 80 inning seasons... it was actually 100. They are really trying to protect him(while also probably trying to slow down his arb clock). He said that they are going to monitor the season and just take it day by day when they get to that point as a guy like Urias is a rare breed. I would not expect him up with the big club until they don't have 5 of Kershaw, Hill, Maeda, Kazmir, McCarthy, Wood, Ryu, Stripling or Stewart available. Though if we are starting to roll come the mid-end of July, but the team wants another big arm to add to the rotation, I could see them promoting Urias and giving him a few outings to see if they can save a trade(that is if he is not needed by then).

End of July? No way, that is almost 4 months of the season. He's up by Mid May at the latest because well, he's one of our 5 best starting options. Honestly I don't see the point of extended Spring because if he gets hurt, then what? You rest him at the start then he's not pitching when you want him to.

 

I guess we would be like teams from Canada. Really no reason MLB should skip a beat. It would bring more legitimacy to the name "World Series".

 

Strangely though, it has nothing to do with being world champions...as everyone justifyably assumes.
Back in the day, a newspaper named " The World" sponsored the league winners playing each other shebang.
Hence, the "world series".
