Turner has more ups. So does Bellinger. But I think both have more downside than Taylor too. With Turner age and health are issues.

That said, I'm not down on Turner in the slightest. I'm speaking more to my confidence in CT3 being the same player he was last season. He's the real deal, no doubts about it from me. Lock him into the top of the lineup and we are good to go.

Honestly, I expect good seasons from all 4: Seager, CT3, RedTurn, and Belli. I think you can make a fair argument for who is most likely to repeat their 2016 performance for all 4, but no matter what order you put them in CT3 is very much in the conversation.

Will also be interesting to see what Toles has. He tore his ACL early enough in the season to have fully recovered by early May and he was firmly in the top half of MLB, at his position, in ISO. The fact that Calhoun is settling in at LF, can perhaps argue that with what Toles was doing and is capable of, that he made Calhoun expendable. If Toles is right, both Joc and Verdugo will have their hands full. What happened to Calhoun may also happen to Verdugo. Joc, not as much, since I doubt they'd sell him coming off the season he had. Not that Verdugo couldn't take CF instead, but the attempt at nabbing Jackie Bradley Jr. wasn't a good sign for Verdugo the centerfielder nor Joc.

In truth, so much could happen if the nerds' fortune is A1 over the next few weeks..which I guess goes into all the intrigue LAD fans have with a guy like Cain. If they're willing to sell high on Puig to get a CF like Bradley Jr., might they be willing to sign Cain for 3/40 if they can find trade partners for Kemp and Puig? Cain could do what they wanted Bradley Jr. to do and take CF, leaving Verdugo/Joc/Toles to battle for the corners..Taylor to 2B. The slow market is definitely keeping their options in front of them. Things could come together really fast..or not. Doesn't seem like anybody's in all that much a hurry to help LAD since they're holding both the present and the future hostage..they need more agents like AA in Atlanta..where can they ship Byrnes? Beane needs to stop BSin, he knows he wants the Kemp/Puig combo special. It comes with a biscuit and mashed potatoes

According to latimes, Dodgers need to keep the payroll under 197 not only cause of luxury tax but also cause of debt servicing that is ruled by the commissioner :(

MLB turning into a socialist hell hole like the NBA. This is basically a hard cap now.

Good article, puts things in perspective. I still would like to make a run at Yelich who's 2018 salary would squeeze in under the $197MM salary threshold without moving anyone. MGT could also move guys like Kemp/Grandal/Forsythe during the season or at the deadline to free up more salary and give a bit of wiggle room.

    yup
    i hate salary caps
hurts the players for sure, ultimately hurts teams
in theory, i understand (wanting) competitive balance...
but i'm sorry... if teams with more money want to spend more, they should be allowed to
not the yankees fault the rays can't draw flies to shit, and they shouldn't be punished for it

At this point just see how things go and maybe do something in July. The division isn’t in question. This ‘market’ is fucking ridiculous.

Our seats of 12 seasons are no longer.
Main guy gave the seats back to the Dodgers without giving anyone the opportunity to take over the account.
My last memory will be Darvish choking.
    Not fair.

    Oh well

It works in the NHL, but they also have a minimum that teams have to spend, so in that formula they couldn't have only one guy making a double-figure salary and hit the floor. The NHL premise is that the league and players split the revenue almost equally, the players cut obviously going towards salary and the like.

    Another article on Yelich:
    http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article195576169.html

    ▪ One team said the Marlins, in Yelich talks, expressed a preference for more developed prospects who are in Double A or above. The Marlins want multiple prospects from a team’s list of Top 10 prospects. - Ruiz (C - #3) / White (RHP - #4)/ Alvarez (RHP - #5), all from AA.

    ▪ If the Marlins trade Yelich, they likely would need to sign a cheap free agent outfielder to replace him unless they get a big league-ready prospect back in the deal or any other trade in the next two months. - I would send them Trayce or Toles. Might even offer Joc if they would take only 2 prospects.

Yelich is due $7 million in 2018 - Squeezes in just under the $197MM cap.

Losing out on Stanton sucked......that he went to the Tankees and is now paired with Judge SUCKS even more. Seeing everyone else upgrade and MGT stand pat (yes they signed Alexander, but that only replaced Morrow. Im not counting Kohler yet) SUPER SUCKS. Trading for Yelich would make everything all better.....
