If we would have won the World Series, I would care far less about acquiring a star like Stanton. But after that heartbreak we need something to get excited about for another regular season.

What if Stanton returned to his hometown team, the Dodgers? He might only lose one, while gaining one to three. The same situation exists in right field, where the slightly deeper Los Angeles fence may have cost him the same home run off of Corbin. But Stanton may have gained one to three homers in left-center field, where the Dodger Stadium fences are just eight feet high, while Miami's range from 14-20 feet tall.

In San Francisco, Stanton might haved gained one or two, but lost two to three. It's iterestingly become the one place in baseball where the home run surge hasn't arrived, and while that's in some part due to the composition of the Giants' roster, it's also due to the fact that the ballpark on the water doesn't seem to be conducive to power. We'll admit upfront that we're just transferring Stanton's hits here, not adjusting for wind.

I didn’t think Cubs were an exception, just that they hadn’t said yay or nay yet?

Heyman saying that he’s hearing the Dodgers are still in(though unconfirmed) and if they are, are not perceived to be the favorites. All eyes are on the Mariners.

I don't know why anybody goes to the Mariners. Pretty good market, a lot of money ownership wise, nice stadium, but never win.

If I had to choose who else but us it would be the Mariner's who NEED to win now and won't be a WS threat to us

I totally agree. Still highest suicide rate I believe in the US. ONLY saving grace is a Japanese presence in ownership and citizenry

UGH!!!!! Reading all this crap it is sounding like MGT is out on both Ohtoni and Stanton. Im tired of MGT passing up on WS dealmakers. This dink and dunk shit is not working.

The Yankees were the favorites for this guy until an hour ago. Those motherfuckers don’t know anything when it comes to Ohtani

If we don’t get Otani or Stanton, we’re the best team in baseball. If we get either or both, we’re the best by a significant margin. I don’t really care how this shakes out, I think the chances of it moving the dial for next year’s postseason are slim even if we get one.

How is the FO to blame for Ohtani? It’s entirely his decision and we are said to really want him. They sent a 10 man contingent to watch and meet with him during the season. He’s choosing a location it sounds more like for comfort over if they’re a contender or not. If he goes someplace else it’s not going to be on anyone, but Ohtani.

I wouldn’t be shocked if he signed there and then we find out that he grew up worshiping Ichiro or something.
