I’m gonna be honest I can’t stand the sect of Twitter that’s argument is “This trade is a disaster because there was no reason to cut payroll” I sat here a week ago and made a couple paragraph post about how the luxury tax is a bullshit excuse but, at the end of the day, if ownership said this is how much were willing to spend and that’s it, how can you be mad at the front office for doing what they’re instructed to do by the owners??? It’s like if you’re given a $20 stipend for lunch and spend $150 and then go back to the office saying that the owners of your company are rich anyway they can afford it. That’s insane lol.

So that aside, it’s a good deal. The inclusion of the two prospects makes it a lot fairer than initially reported. Plus now we can go make a splash in free agency. Harper or bust.

According to a Pirates beat writer, the Dodgers and Pirates were finalizing a deal of Francisco Cervelli for Ross Stripling. The deal fell due to something over the physicals and it is believed that they were Cervelli’s.

The honest truth is, on a team built with WS aspirations, players like Kemp, Wood, and Farmer should be DFA candidates. Regardless of salary. Puig is the only one who deserves a spot on such a team, and even then he’s a role player, not a key component of the club.

I also don’t give a fuck if we had a $400 million payroll. But, if we did, then none of those 4 players would still be on the 40-man roster anyway.

Wood being a fringe starter who also sucked a reliever is both incredibly rare and makes no sense

But agreed mostly. I think Puig is a legit starting RF but otherwise yeah

Watching the Lakers on ESPN right now, they were talking about the LAD/Cincy trade and if it means the Dodgers would sign Harper. I halfway expect Woj to have the real scoop on Harper Lol

There is a group of like 4 or 5 guys that are trying to really break into the LA market together that all play off one another. One will report something and the whole group will repeat it like a flock of parrots from "their sources". Duarte is like the ringleader and I can't remember the dudes name that broke the Turner and Jansen deal, but he was also in the troupe. He caught lightning in a bottle and since then, they've been pretty much worthless, aside from the occasional false rumor that gets everyone hyped("Braun for Puig is a done deal!"). I stopped following them when they all would fucking live tweet random games.

It sounds like they are preparing to go into spring with Taylor and Hernandez competing for 2B(Muncy could too, but I am a bit more skeptical), which compared to what is out there, is not the worst thing in the world. If Taylor really did figure out his issues towards the end of the season, he'd be a damn good option at the position(as long as they fill some holes elsewhere). Other thing that I am thinking is that they may feel that Gavin Lux is close to being ready. The jump from Hi-A to AA is the biggest leap in talent that a player will see. Lux went from crushing in Rancho to crushing in Tulsa all the way through the playoffs. Really impressive for his age and a very good sign for his future. He could get a couple months in AA to start the year and if he is putting up anything close to what he did last year, he'll get the jump to AAA where he could need very little time. +
Interesting bit on some important positions coming up in the next couple of seasons, Lux 2B, Ruiz C, Downs SS and Verdugo OF are all high contact guys with impressive bat to ball skills. 3 of them could be ready as soon as the end of the 2019 season. The Dodgers once again have an intriguing core of prospects that are getting close to being ready and though lacking a true superstar upside aside from potentially Ruiz, they have the type of guys who could be well above average fillers around impact bats like Seager, Muncy, Bellinger and MAYBE Harper in the years to come.
As for the ace thing, they have an ace already and though it took a couple of games, he finally showed up in the World Series. There are no dominate dudes for a rotation out there anymore. Kluber would be a great guy to have slot in behind Kershaw in game 3 of a playoff series, but like Kersh, he has had some issues in recent years. They may elect to pursue Kikuchi as his upside is higher than that of a Maeda, Hill and Stripling at this point and would not cost the prospect haul.

Puig may light that bandbox up big time...and Kemp too, for a while.
Damn, sure hope this is all leading to the promised land..er, player or players. Because if it doesn't, I don't get it.
But the manipulative genius strokes and the predictable accompanying lavish praise that follows en masse mostly always did somewhat escape me. Not the saving money part, the world championship part.
    Because relentless failure.
