"The positioning, the ball off the bat, the movement -- it's all reversed," Guerrero said Friday while participating in the club's annual community caravan with Puig and 16 other Dodgers. "But anybody that plays shortstop can play any position in the infield." i like it hope he can back it up
The kid looks pretty serious to me and from what I've watched he can rope. I say give him a chance and see what happens.
I'm going to go on record and say that Guerrero looks like Shane from The Walking Dead. Also, minor league prospect Tom Windle looks like Jim from the office.
Those would have been perfect for the photoshop thread! Maybe Irish will find some nice "side by side" pics and post them. I get the feeling he's about 100 times more graphically savvy than I am.
yeh, Donnie is the perfect manager for Guerrero. Donnie relaxes his guys and for a guy who's reportedly a ridiculously hard worker, a dash of a relaxed manager is a good mix for Guerrero. as far as his hitting, they've got to get guys on base in front of him and let him take cuts in some high leverage spots. i wanna see him batting 6th most everyday. don't yank him around in the order either. give him the Puig treatment...let him settle in the 6-hole.
Somehow, I can't help thinking about Hannibal Lechter and his acid/crank/PCP -fueled romp with that guy who he talked into carving his face off. IDK if Puig is ready to be the professor. Maybe the millionaire...or Gilligan...
Well since Puig is in the Show, he doesn't skate on this And you just never know what another team might buy with the infusion of Cuban refugee ballplayers. Could leave Guggenheim in the dust...y'know like Tanaka. And which typo? I make so many...
I've got a great sense of humor. You just ain't funny man. I guess you're over my head with those comedy stylings of yours.
Guerrero looks to make adjustment to second base By Ken Gurnick | MLB.com -- 1 hour ago GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Yasiel Puig's wild success emboldened the Dodgers to sign more Cuban players, most notably Alex Guerrero, who will be the starting second baseman on Opening Day if he's ready. But if they underestimated Puig's arrival, they might have overestimated Guerrero's, especially considering his additional challenge of moving from shortstop to second base, which has not come easily. Guerrero is showing some improvement, according to manager Don Mattingly, but games haven't even started yet. Concern led to the late signings of Chone Figgins and Justin Turner, to go with returnees Dee Gordon and Justin Sellers, along with non-roster invitees Brendan Harris, who has nearly five years of Major League experience, and slick gloveman Miguel Rojas, who has none. Mattingly said Saturday that Guerrero will be focused on second base, but Gordon has shown in winter ball that he can handle both middle positions. If the switch-hitting Figgins can regain any of his Angels form, he also could be an answer at second base, and at least provide support at third base and even center field. Somebody on the bench needs to be the backup middle infielder, somebody needs to be capable of playing behind Juan Uribe at third base and somebody needs to fill in for Adrian Gonzalez at first base. The latter will likely be Scott Van Slyke, who is primarily an outfielder. Gordon, Sellers and Rojas can play both middle infield spots. Harris is comfortable at second, short and third. "We've found out that versatility, in this league, you can't have enough of it," said Mattingly. __
Saw Guerrero today and he looked completely fine at second. Granted, it was just BP and I'm not a scout, but he was making some cool plays. Dre was putting on a show in the cage.
It is starting to sound more and more like he is getting a handle for the position. Hard to see a guy who can handle the toughest position on the diamond, not be able to make the adjustments to succeed on the other side of 2B. With him in the lineup, we are that much more scary.
