Dodgers have signed Jair Jurrjens to an MiLB deal. This is on par with the Masterson deal of the team just needing immediate depth at the AAA level with Urias maybe being a week or two behind, the club carrying 7 starters including Wood and Stripling, Stewart and Kazmir both on the DL and De Leon, Frias and De Jong getting traded in the offseason. The Dodgers still have a good bit of depth with Kershaw, Maeda, Hill, Ryu, McCarthy, Wood, Stripling, Urias, Oaks, Stewart and Kazmir, it is definitely not what it once was, but that could change as the season progresses with White, Buehler, Alvarez along with anybody else that takes a step forward this year.

Culberson did not get his rose, he is heading back to MiLB.

Hatcher looks to have made the team

Bruised wrist for Kike, going to try to swing a bat tomorrow, but no guarantees.

25 man to be set sometime today.

Hmmmmm, seems rather weird how this gascan keeps getting chance after chance.....

Irish, do you still have those "Incriminating" pictures of him, Friedman and Caitlyn Jenner with the used tampon?

Roberts mentioned that Hatcher not having any options left was a factor in the decision. Sounds like he has a short leash to show he is still the same pitcher he once was.

I don't know how official it is, but Ken Gurnick wrote an article yesterday saying the opening-day pitching staff was basically set. With the only real question being who will be the #5 starter, McCarthy or Wood. But both are expected to make the roster with one as the #5 and the other in the bullpen.

    Kershaw
    Hill
    Maeda
    Ryu
    McCarthy
    Wood
    Jansen
    Romo
    Dayton
    Avilan
    Stripling
    Hatcher

Baez is on the DL, but is expected to be in the setup role when he returns. Liberatore was sent to AAA.

Exactly. Libby and Fields were optioned to the minors yesterday. That's the reason Gurnick said the pitching staff looks to be set with those 12.

There's one thing that remains inexorably the same...as constant as Polaris.
The umpires still suck elephant cocks.
God forbid they took it up a notch to semi- confident.

I would rather see almost anybody make the roster other than Hatcher. The guy really sucks, seriously.
Reading Dave's " out of options" reasoning is all well and good, but since the Dodgers are a professional baseball team ( I think, IMO), and not a suicide prevention hot line, then fuck Hatcher big time.
With Romo, initially great, but now settling down and showing he is very capable of duplicating his SF douchebaggery, we need someone more capable and dependable than Hatcher out there.
I hope the leash is short, as previously mentioned.
    Very short.

    Wood to the pen.
McCarthy wins the 5th spot in the rotation.
    Please hold up, Ryu.

Segedin was optioned to the minors, so I would think that means SVS is locked into a roster spot.

    don't get it
you could probably outright release svs and he would still be there if you wanted to get him back
segedin is a great guy and actually makes contact occasionally and seems to have that thing
hopefully its a short term thing or svs finally lives up to at least a decent ph option

I think SVS still has an option. So they could have sent him down without releasing him.

Are Toles, Thompson, and Guttierez also in? With Joc, Puig, and Ethier, that would make seven outfielders?

    My impression is this...

The opening day roster is significantly worse than it could be. They arent fielding the best team they can. But they're doing it to retain as much depth as possible and play the long game. Options, innings limits, injuries, etc are all playing into it. I trust the FO.
